Vehicle Description
1936 Packard 120
The Packard motor car company started way back in 1899 and was all
about the luxury car. While competitors were offering their early
1900s vehicles for $400-$600 Packard was listing theirs in the
thousands. Packard stopped production with their last concept car
1956. Although they offered a wide array of body style options
Packards are quite rare nowadays and are just one of those cars you
don't see often. The 996 VIN number on this Packard indicates that
it is a 120 Club Sedan. While it looks like many Packards of the
same year and series the Club Sedan means that it lacks the rear
quarter windows you typically see in the 120 series. This gives it
a slightly shorter look. The car is pretty much stock throughout
and is in great shape. The Black paint is in good condition
throughout and the steel is all rust free. The car has the dual
fender mounted spares which just adds to its luxurious looking
exterior. All of the chrome and stainless work is in beautiful
condition and has a great shine. It rides on the original
wheels/hubcaps which are wrapped in wide white wall tires which
suit the car perfectly.
Powering this unique classic is the original Inline 8 cylinder 282
cubic inch motor that starts up and runs well. You will see some of
these out there with more modern drivetrains which is certainly
cool but many will say it is even cooler to pop the hood and see
the original motor staring back at you. The majority of the engine
is painted Green and even has the original PACKARD stamping on the
top. Backing the motor is a manual transmission that moves through
the gears with ease.
Pop open the doors and you will find the great looking stock
interior. These cars had rear suicide doors and opening them all up
gives you full access. It has bench seats in front and rear so the
whole family can ride along in this classic. The dash has the
original layout with all of the stock gauges, knobs and switches
which are working properly. The humpback style trunk on the rear
offers extra storage space and it even has the rear fold down
luggage rack.
This is a really unique classic that you just don't see every day.
Packards are rare to begin with and ones of this vintage that are
