24,415 actual miles! Mint survivor original interior and body. This
was grandpa's 6 cylinder grocery getter. Has original invoice,
sales contract, protect-o-plate, salesman's card, manuals and more.
Recently the body was off the frame and it was transformed into a
factory correct SS L-78 396-375 hp.
EXTERIOR: Original rust free, damage free metal. We have a zip
drive full of pictures showing the car stripped to bare metal.
Doors open with one finger, they click shut. Repainted it's
original burgundy color. Has smooth, straight glossy finish. Jambs
are painted and detailed. Weatherstrips were replaced. Chrome and
trim all around the car is bright and straight. Has bow tie mirrors
and deluxe exterior package which includes bright trim on the
window frames. Correctly restored SS wheels with Coker radial
redline tires.
INTERIOR: Completely original interior in excellent condition. No
carpet, has original rubber mat. Correct style shifter and boot.
Has vintage style aftermarket Stewart Warner gauges and Sun
tachometer. Has tilt column with deluxe rosewood wheel. Instrument
panel looks brand new- heater controls, original radio, gauges,
bezels etc. Overhead the headliner is tight like a drum, no holes,
visors are excellent.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Restored to factory L-78 specs. Period correct
396 was completely rebuilt to stock specs. Bored 30 over, hydraulic
cam equivalent to the original solid lifter cam. Has restored,
correct L-78 carb and aluminum intake. Has rectangular port heads.
Upgraded to electronic ignition and ceramic coated headers. New 4
core radiator, shroud, GM hoses and clamps. Brackets, pulleys,
alternator hinges are all new or restored. The firewall was striped
bare, new seam sealer and painted. Heater core relocated to correct
big block location. New master, lines and cadmium plated booster.
New power pump and hoses. Stock type chrome valve covers and air
cleaner. Correct spring clamp battery cables and Delco battery
topper. The motor compartment is detailed.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Perfectly clean original metal with a durable
spatter finish paint. Also has jack and spare, new
weatherstrip.
UNDERSIDE: Has clean virgin metal underneath. The floors, frame
rails, inner rockers and lower 1/4s are clean original metal. The
frame was pulled from the car and powder coated. The front end was
completely rebuilt- balljoints, bushings, shocks, springs replaced.
Has bigger sway bar. Bottom of the motor is clean, new starter.
Rebuilt M-20 Muncie 4-speed. New Hurst linkage, new clutch. Rebuilt
12 bolt 3.55 posi. Rear suspension rebuilt- new leaf springs and
shocks. All new brake system with disc in front. New lines, hoses,
e-brake cables. New fuel system- tank, sender, lines. New exhaust
system with correct transverse muffler.
Hard to find such a low mile, original metal car. Then to have
someone spend all the time and money to convert it to a factory
correct L-78. The restorer said it would be easier to list the
parts he didnt replace then to tell me everything he did
replace!
