The model year 1960 brought the Chevrolet pickup into the modern
era with its C/K series lineup. The "C" designation identified
two-wheel-drive pickups, and the "K" identified 4X4s. The most
common pickup was the C10, a half-ton truck with a 6.5- or 8-foot
cargo box. The C/K series trucks remained essentially the same
vehicle during a series of conservative redesigns, until 1997, when
the 1998 Silverado replaced it.
For consignment a totally rebuilt engine, some snazzy 1970's paint,
Mickey Thompson Sportsman ST Tires, and a scooped hood, this truck
has had new life breathed into it. With nice badging and chrome,
loud sidepipe exhaust and a shaved bumper from the rear, its ready
for its next life.
Exterior
Root Beer Brown with a cream wide middle panel complete with
bordering gold pinstripes and a cream cab top make up the body of
this truck. On the hood section we note dual cowlings, heading
towards the windshield where they allow plenty of air in under the
hood. A cream Lund color matching sun visor is attached to the roof
and gives the truck a classic look. Bed has been completely redone,
a new tailgate and roll pan installed, with no scratches and bathed
in Root Beer Brown, with a rubber bedliner atop the deck. Brown
steel wheels are wrapped in Mickey Thompson black walls on all 4
corners.
Interior
Plenty of padded textured leather and vinyl covers the doors, seats
and dash. A two-tone motif is used with dark tan and cream.
Original style dash is clean and all there with gauges working.
Very nice clean tan carpeting covers the floors, and also noted is
a custom center insert between the buckets which traces the lines
of the seats and provides a dual cup holder on its end near the
tall shifter on the hump. This is all newly installed since
2015.
Drivetrain
A bathed in blue block and valve covered clean engine in the form
of a 350ci V8 has been totally rebuilt with new cam, timing chain,
fuel pump, headers and exhaust system. A totally rebuilt 4-speed
manual transmission with a 1st gear creeper gear on it has a new
clutch and pressure plate. A rebuilt rear with new bearings seals
and gaskets is on the back.
Undercarriage
Underneath is absolutely perfect with black rust-free steel, brown
sprayed floorpans and rockers. A 2-inch lowered suspension,
rebuilt, and in fine black paint, is seen on the front and rear.
New shocks and power disc brakes on front and power rear drums are
seen. Very well kept and buttoned up underneath.
Drive-Ability
This truck lit the fire immediately with a turn of the key, idled
very smoothly, and drives like a dream, with plenty of power, good
braking, and you could feel the solid undercarriage and new
suspension all working together to produce a great ride. A shout
out to the very comfortable overstuffed two-tone interior, as I
felt like I was in a luxury vehicle.
For the 1970's C-10 fans this one is a restored beauty in retro
color garb, nearly a total rebuild, plenty of extras, and no rust.
Wonderful interior, and a good looker no matter where you look, we
are back in time with this beautiful pickup.
