Vehicle Description
The 1970 Pontiac Trans Am created such a sensation that it remained
essentially unchanged until 1981. The design was revolutionary for
its styling and aerodynamic innovation. The original, matching
numbers 400 cubic inch Ram Air III resides in the engine bay. The
transmission is the original Turbo 400 automatic that the car was
born with as well. This highly desirable Polar White example has
logged only about 500 miles since a thorough professional
restoration. Everything from the engine room to the undercarriage
is completely detailed. A spare tire, jack, and lug wrench are
where they belong in the trunk. While equipped with power steering
and power front disc brakes to maximize handling and performance,
the radio delete option is an indicator of the serious performance
attitude of this rare Bird. The interior is black with bucket seats
and center console. The trademark engine turned dash is present in
all its splendor with an impressive array of gauges including a
large tach and a more compact analog clock. BFGoodrich Radial T/A's
are a popular choice to upgrade classic muscle cars, but the Trans
Am was one car that actually came with them. Although in this case,
there's a little extra meat with 255/60R15s in the front and fat
275s in the back. The Pontiac Ram Air III is conservatively rated
at 345 horsepower and 430 lb/ft of twist at 3400 rpm. That, coupled
with the famous world class handling, makes this 1970 Pontiac Trans
Am a real joy to drive.
