Vehicle Description
"Sound your horn. The road is yours." That was a slogan for Texaco
gasoline some years ago. It may not be seen as polite today, but
that's the feeling you get behind the wheel of this tough looking
black on black 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. And of course, you'll
want to take every opportunity to show people the exclusive Warner
Brothers officially licensed "Voice of Road Runner" horn. This is a
car smack in the middle of the muscle car phenomenon, and it brings
the hardware. 440 big block cubes lurk under the hood. The
performance and visual impact is optimized with the six-barrel carb
setup -- complete with the big "Coyote Duster" air cleaner
assembly. So this Bird can inhale massive quantities of air.
Exhaling is handled by coated Hooker Competition headers and
Flowmaster mufflers. So yes, the sound of this car matches is
looks. This Road Runner has all the trademark Mopar goodies. In
addition to that horn and the three deuces, there's the Pistol Grip
shifter made by Hurst. What's under the floor is important too, and
the original HD 4-speed manual provides control and strength, and a
new clutch means you can enjoy lots of trouble free shifts. The
famous rallye dash looks great with its complete array of gauges
including the Tic Toc Tach. The rest of the interior is a standout
as well. Black bucket seats add a touch of elegance, and they're
really comfortable. This Road Runner bridges the gap between
classic good looks versus what's in style today. The word
"timeless" is tossed about often, but this car nails it. Beautiful
black paint sets the mood. Then, there's the perfect wheel and tire
combination. White letter Goodrich radials -- 225/70s in front and
275/60s in back fit perfectly. Chrome Magnum 500 wheels do a great
job of complementing the paint. Upon close inspection you'll notice
that the rears have been widened to accommodate the larger tires.
It's the perfect touch to get the all-important stance just right.
When you see it, you'll know. This could be the "just right" car
for you.
