Vehicle Description
1960 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series 220SC Cabriolet 4 speed column manual
shift gearbox, this car was professionally repainted recently. The
red leather interior and black carpet are in perfect condition. The
wood was also recently restored, the soft top is new and the
original engine runs perfectly. This is a unique and completely
restored Mercedes Benz 220S This is 1 of 2,178 produced in total
from 1956-60 and is also an older restoration showing excellent.
This is a numbers matching per factory records and has new leather
and wood trim with excellent Brightwork. The car comes with a
Becker Mexico radio and factory optional Ivory steering wheel. The
vehicle has been recently received a mechanical servicing and has
had over $20,000 invested in the past 2 yrs at Precision Auto
Works. In 1956 Mercedes-Benz began to offer their 220 model in a
lavish coupe and cabriolet that sold in much smaller numbers than
the sedan they were based off. From July 1956 until late 1960,
2,178 cabriolets were made alongside 1,251 coupes and over 55,000
sedans. These cars used the M180 924 inline-6 engine which was one
of the last to use regular carburetors over an injection system.
The single carburetor units produced around 100 bhp while the later
cars used two Solex 32s to produce 105 bhp. All the cars used a
4-speed manual transmission, but Mercedes-Benz did offer a Hydrak
automatic clutch that used switches in the column shift lever to
activate. A very clean and highly collectible 220S Cabriolet which
is mechanically sound good. Please Note The Following **Vehicle
