For Sale: 1953 Chevrolet Corvette in Frisco, Texas

Vehicle Description

For sale is one of the most heavily documented 1953 Corvette's #183 of 300 1953 Corvettes made

Number 183 has had only four owners since new and comes with complete owner documentation and history with the odometer showing just over 46650 miles. Sold new in December 1953 and the first Corvette sold in Denver Co. from Luby Chevrolet to its first owner a wealthy real estate developer. This 1st owner took delivery with a documented photo shoot at the Greek Amphitheater in the Denver Co. City Park. During its first 20 plus years #183 was drove sparingly and then parked only logging 400 miles in the last six years of ownership before selling in the spring of 1974.

The second owner who is an Arvada Co. based stock broker and well know NCRS enthusiast freshened up the car and then sent it off to be displayed in an Automotive Museum for all to enjoy over the next year. After its short stint at the museum it spent the next two years going through a thorough off frame restoration back to its original factory correct condition. Then in the spring of “77” made its debut at the famed Harrah’s Automobile Collection Car Show in Reno Nv. earning top honors and photos with recording artist Karen and Richard Carpenter acknowledging the cars significance. Later in 1977 it was taken to Illinois to a NCRS meet then to Michigan in 1978 both times judging Top Flight.

Then after a short rest judged again in 81 and 85 at St. Louis and Copper Mountain respectively by its 2nd owner. During this time #183 was invited to participate in the re-enactment and photo shoot of the first 3 1953 Corvettes coming off of the assembly line in Flint Mi.

The third owner who resided in the Glendale Az. area purchased the car in 1988. During this time the car was only driven a few hundred miles over the next 10 plus years while being well maintained and preserved and being trailered to invited events for show and display. In 1989 #183 was invited by General Motors to promote the Inaugural Corvette Challenge Series Race at the Phoenix International Raceway.

The fourth and current owner is a surgeon who practices out of Amarillo Tx. After purchasing #183 in May of 97 he decided to once again take the car through the rigorous NCRS judging but this time to accomplish a 97 score or above twice with one being from a National Meet and passing the Preformance Verification Test. This in turn achieved #183 the highest NCRS award offered, the “NCRS-Duntov Mark of Excellence Award” that was presented on July 9, 1998 at the National NCRS Meet in Collinsville Ill.
