Vehicle Description
The most quintessentially British of all British sports cars is the
Morgan. These cars have been built in limited quantities at Malvern
Link Sussex since 1912. Early Morgans were three-wheelers, with the
first four-wheel car not introduced until 1935 with its styling
evolving at a glacial's pace. The steel coachwork is still shaped
over a wood subframe and the 1961 Morgan has retained the classic
lines of the earlier cars. It is uncompromisingly a sports car; an
open two-seater that is light, nimble, and a thrill to drive. This
Plus 4 is equipped with a strong Triumph TR3 engine.
Privately owned since January 2005, this Morgan has been
meticulously restored from the frame up over the past several
years. The restoration Includes beautiful deep red paint, new wood
throughout the sub-frame and doors, a fleece-backed leather hood
strap, black leather seats, black leather gearbox cover, black
carpeting with embroidered Morgan logos, all new/rebuilt
instruments in the coveted cream color, varnished wood dash,
Moto-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel (Original wheel included), new
chrome wire wheels, tonneau cover, rebuilt carbs by Joe Curto,
polished aluminium valve cover, solid state ignition, rebuilt
brakes (discs in front, drums in rear) and more!
The odometer shows 73,000 miles and this motorcar has not been for
sale until now. This Morgan is driven regularly but sparingly, as
part of the owner's collection of classic British Sports Cars. It
runs smoothly and the overall condition is excellent. The Morgan
Plus 4's rarity and beautiful retro styling attracts plenty of
attention and admiration wherever it goes. This is a unique
opportunity to acquire this iconic sports car at a reasonable
price!
Bid on this car in person at the RAND Luxury Auction on October
12th.
