1964 Ford Galaxie XL "R" Code For Sale - Factory 427 Dual Quad,
Rare Factory Red On Red LMC is proud to offer for sale this 1964
Ford Galaxie 500XL R-Code for sale. When it came to "Total
Performance", no one could hold a candle to Ford in 1964. That year
everything seemed to come together with superb styling for the
passenger cars and some of the hottest engines the American auto
industry has ever seen. Introduced for mid-year 1963 was the
ultimate FE big-block engine, the 427ci V8. Available in two
levels, 410bhp with a single four-barrel, or 425bhp, "R" code
version with dual four-barrels. Known among fans as the these
power-houses would propel full-size Fords into the front of pack be
it on the street, strip or track. If someone had a hunger, a need
for speed, Ford had a full menu ready to be served up. Built at
Ford's Atlanta, Georgia assembly plant towards the end of November
1963, it was factory finished in gleaming Rangoon Red on the
exterior and Red vinyl bucket interior. It was originally delivered
new to the Altanta ordering district as denoted on its trim tag
with a DSO of "21". Best of all the original owner had stepped up
for the pricey top of the line $461.60 "R" code 427ci dual quad
engine option, which also required an addition $188 for the 4-speed
manual transmission. All that grunt is channeled through a
bulletproof 9-inch rear axle. As if that wasn't rare and
interesting enough, this car also has the 500XL package, making it
surprisingly comfortable even as that barely-detuned race engine
churns away just on the other side of the firewall. Not many would
expect a car this big from this period to be so fast, but it is.
This vehicle has been well kept over its lifetime and remains
largely original with one exterior repaint in the correct Rangoon
Red colour. This is a rare opportunity to purchase a prime example
of a full-size performance Ford from the breed's golden age. Don't
miss out! Additional Details: 1964 FORD GALAXIE 500XL -
