For Sale: 1926 Buick Roadster in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

For those of you tired of the same old Ford and Chevy rods, perhaps this 1926 Buick Roadster will be a breath of fresh air. Long, low, and sleek, you can see where a car like the modern Prowler gets its handsome good looks, and with a gorgeous custom interior and a rumbling Iron Duke and 5-speed manual, it's more than just a unique look.

Both the body and chassis are fully customized, and the professional builders seemed to have really found the sweet spot for a heck of a unique streetrod. The fender-delete look and lowered belt line give this sweet roadster a very sporting look that's a little bit old school and a little bit 21st century slick. It's fiberglass, of course, but that also means that fit and finish are exemplary, with a solid feeling going down the road. The raked-back grille and high-perched, blue-dot headlights are definitely a welcome change over the usual stuff and you can see how a car like this later inspired a Forde Deuce just by looking at the rear end alone. The lift-off hood is as much a styling element as functional upgrade and with a fixed windshield, it has a more substantial look than most roadsters. Although warn your taller riders that they may be picking bugs out of their teeth after a long ride, because style always comes at a cost! The slick, two-stage Aquamarine paint is beautifully applied with almost no signs of use and while there isn't much chrome, the bright stuff that is on the car, including the grille and headlights, is like new. And that side exhaust isn't just for show either, the driver's side pipe is fully functional and emits a wonderful soundtrack for this bespoke roadster.

You may have noticed that the Buick body is a bit longer than the usual Ford or Chevy of the era, and that pays big dividends inside, where there's sufficient room for two folks with long legs. The nicely stitched mock-ostrich vinyl upholstery does a fairly good impersonation of the real stuff without ever hurting a flightless bird and the custom pattern is repeated on the door panels and custom dash for a cohesive look. Black carpets help insulate passengers from noise and a custom shifter boot wraps the ergonomically positioned shifter for the 5-speed manual transmission below. Cool Speedway white-faced gauges are a little bit retro and a little bit modern, which is the perfect choice in this '26 Buick. There's also a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in a sparkling silver rim on to help you get a comfortable grip and that custom dash also houses an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that powers speakers neatly integrated under the seat for open-air tunes.

A venerable 2.5L Inline 4 "Iron Duke" provides the power, and the neatly detailed powerplant looks great peeking out from under the removable hood. A painted valve cover and updated air cleaner add a trick look, while a thrifty carburetor and block-hugger headers help build some horsepower. Clean and simple is the dominant theme, so it isn't over-done, and you can drive it or show it without worries. A T5 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive feeds a 10-bolt GM rear end, so the entirety of the powertrain is plenty tough for the rigors of a cross-country cruise. Even better, the custom chassis and suspension featuring mono-leaf springs up front and a 3-link with coilovers in the rear rides rather well and handles great, and front disc brakes should be standard equipment on anything this light that can go this fast, and it definitely has the right soundtrack with that side exhaust making the music. Gorgeous oversized 17-inch Boyd Coddington wheels give it just a bit of rake and carry low-profile 215/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear performance radials for a modern look.

Stand out from the crowd with this awesome little Buick roadster and you'll probably find that you're not alone in thinking that different is definitely better. Call now!
