Vehicle Description
1951 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery
What is a sedan delivery, exactly? The lines can be blurry, but
mainly we strive not to confuse them with their larger siblings,
panel deliveries aka panel trucks. A sedan delivery is built on a
passenger car chassis and employs a passenger-car derived body,
while panel trucks are truck-based. No, the distinction isn't
always clear. For example, Ford and others built both Sedan
Deliveries and Panel Deliveries on essentially the same chassis.
Oh, well.
For consignment a body refinished but not yet painted. Some
customizations from the original design and liberties taken to
improve on handling and safety. Consigner stated 33,000 plus
original miles? This car started life as a flower car for a funeral
home. Please note, the VIN decodes as a 1949 model.
Exterior
Donning its gray exterior with a black guide coat. This car has had
new panels, new floor panels for the front, mild customization for
the front headlights, 59 Caddy taillights, and a sunken license
plate. All body work was professionally done and shows no rust but
a few spots that need corrected. All chrome and brightwork are good
and remain shiny and dimple free. Front grille is simple and
original design, and the hood ornament has been shaved. 15-inch
Camaro wheels in 5 V spoke aluminum form are on all 4 corners.
Interior
Partially finished with original dash in red correct gauges and
trim upfront. A PT Cruiser donated the power seats, and a Camaro
tilt steering column fronts the dash. A center console has been
installed. Interior will need carpet, dash redux and rear cargo
area rework. Currently taking up space in the cargo area are
various and sundry parts aplenty. Door panels and headliner will be
left to the next owner to use their creativity, and vision.
Drivetrain
Currently nothing to speak of however consigner does have engine
mounts. Creative license can be used here, with as much or little
bling and HP's as you wish!
Undercarriage
Some surface rust, some rustproofing, some black paint, all in
various stages of the restoration process. A Mustang 2 front end
with Camaro disc brakes, Butch's Cool Stuff rear axle mounting kit,
and a 3.73 rear courtesy a Camaro.
A partial resto in progress, now left to the next owner's devices
as to which way to proceed. Kind of neat as the new owner has some
of the hard work done, now it's just a matter of picking finishes,
and dreaming on which power plant to insert, and you will be ready
to go deliver more flowers?
