Vehicle Description
1947 was still a transitional year for all the automakers that were
just coming off of war time production and Buick was no exception.
The same basic design that was developed in 1942 would still be
used in most application until 1950. However, Buick was determined
to be back on track as one of the leading luxury and executive
brands and the 56 C Super convertible was a home run in every way.
Excellent lines, power features and lots of chrome sure made a
statement amongst buyers. This really clean and dry example comes
to us from the dry upper mid-west that has been completely re-done
throughout the years. The current consignor purchased the car when
it was partly completed starting with a body off frame restoration
as well as mechanical and drivetrain restoration. The bumpers were
re-chromed along with the grill, radiator was re-cored, converted
to 12V system with brand new wiring harness, new plugs, wires,
carburetor rebuild, pertronix ignition system installed, all new
gauges by classic instruments, all new glass and rubber and the
list goes on. It has upgraded Vintage Heat, hydraulics for the
convertible along with new top by Lebaron Bonney. A new set of
Coker tires were put on a new set of US Steel wheels. The paint was
done at that time as well and If I had to pick the car apart it
would be the quality of the paint. This car starts, runs, brakes
and goes down the road better than new. This is a perfect driver
that could be used as a perfect candidate for a re-spray if wanted
as everything else is done.
