Vehicle Description
1972 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
First- and second-generation Corvettes are one of the first true
collectible cars of the modern era, and collecting Corvettes
remains a global phenomenon. More than just another two-seat sports
car, the Vette is an American icon. There's a good reason it's
often referred to as America's sports car, and every enthusiast
should have at least a basic knowledge of its seven
generations.
For consignment an excellent condition '72 Vette. Taking form as a
numbers matching LT-1 car, matching original paint respray, and
shiny clean chrome, I smell another collectible coming over the
hill straight into your garage.
Exterior
With its restoration completed in 2014, a quality respray of Targa
Blue, is very smooth with the exception of some bubbling in the one
quarter panel. Its shark like front end with a chrome bumper at the
point, egg crate grille below, and hidden headlights which melt
into a scooped hood, this car's sculptural qualities are off the
charts. Air intake egg crate on the front quarters with Stingray
scripted chrome backing above, and a curvaceous rocker trim panel,
this car is a work of art. Noted the flat rear window is not
installed, but is included with this car. Bringing up the rear are
the iconic 'Vette round taillights into the flat vertical panel and
dual rectangular exhaust tips below the squared off eyebrow chrome
bumpers. Noted are the non leaking T tops...groovy.
Interior
Completely restored to near showroom perfection, the black leather
horizontal tuck and roll pattern show no faults. Black carpet in
good condition floats the buckets. The center console has a neato
leather padded armrest which doubles as a glove box door. Moving
forward is an applique wood panel which houses the gearshift. Above
is a cluster of round gauges that will make you feel like a 747
pilot. A classic wood steering wheel fronts a deep dual gauge
instrument cluster. Door panels show some wear around the round
knob door locks, but otherwise are in good condition.
Drivetrain
A 350ci LT-1 numbers matching V8 is nestled into a clean engine
bay. A single 4-barrel carburetor is atop, and a Muncie M21 4-speed
manual transmission is attached to the rear of the mill. All
numbers matching, and all very nicely presenting...applause please
for the power train.
Undercarriage
Straight out of 1972, this structurally sound, with very limited
areas of surface rust, clean floor plans, and just plain goodness
underneath. Racy C3 suspension on front and rear, and 4-wheel disc
brakes are all around. A shout out to the under of the engine
emblazoned with correct Chevrolet Orange...nice!
Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and we are in auditory heaven, and I can feel it
in the seat of my pants in the form of a vibration. Smooth shifter
with a good clutch, rail like handling, and lots-o-power from the
350 cubes throwing it back to the Muncie. Ergonomics are awesome
and I felt totally at home in this 'Vette, in fact so much so, I
may take it to my home, unless you beat me to it.
A fantastic job all around on the restoration performed on this
baby. Very nicely presenting, well running example right out of 72.
All wrapped in Targa Blue, and chrome, hidden headlights, T top,
and hey! It's numbers matching...Bring it on 'Vette
Aficionados.
