Welcome to StreetDreamsTexas as we celebrate our 21st year in the
classic and muscle car business. Big block Corvette. Those three
words quicken the pulse of most automobile enthusiasts for a
reason. During the late 1960's American automobile manufacturers
produced a large number of high performance cars that fought for
bragging rights at virtually every stop light and drive-in across
the country. The guys who didn't like to argue showed up in 427
Corvettes! No car caused more concern for a street racing
adversary, and if you've driven one you know why. This beautiful
Safari Yellow (984) 1968 Corvette convertible is a fine example for
a case study on the joys of big block 'Vettes. Powered by its
numbers matching (der. 18S400297, suffix IL, BCN 3916321) 427 ci
V8, this blue chip collectible is ready for any adventure.
Additional items listed on the copy of the window sticker include
the numbers matching wide ratio 4-speed manual transmission (M20),
power steering (N40), power 4 wheel disc brakes, AM/FM radio (U69,
updated with a modern radio), and a tinted windshield (A02). The
original 3.70 Positraction rear axle ratio has been swapped for a
more highway-friendly 3.36 Posi (AU). This car runs and drives
beautifully, aided in part by the skillfully rebuilt original 427
that the owner reports now puts out significantly more than the 390
hp rating. An interesting historical footnote; this car was
originally sold by Rodger Penske Chevrolet in Philadelphia, which
was the first dealership in the racer/owner/entrepreneur's vast
business empire. This is truly a Chevrolet fan's Corvette.
Baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie not included! Street Dreams
(830-997-1950) is a full service dealership that can assist with
worldwide delivery, insurance, and financing options.
