1968 Ford Mustang Fastback / Eleanor Conversion
First came the Movie "Bullitt" with Steve McQueen in his 1968 Mustang Fastback. And then there was Eleanor! The Supercar that came out of the Movie "Gone in 60 seconds". Both cars will live on for decades to come. This "Eleanor" was built from the same 1968 Mustang Fastback as Steve McQueen's Bullitt.
Nearly $100,000 went into the build of this car. The car itself was extremely hard to find because of the popularity from the 1968 movie "Bullitt". The "Eleanor" body kit added nearly $7000 just for parts. The nearly two year frame-off restoration began in 2004 on Long Island in NY where the car was born and still raised. A complete record of every part and every step taken to build the car was kept since the restoration in 2005. Photos of the car taken down to the frame and build back up to what it is today. Documentation fills two full binders which include receipts for it all.
The heartbeat of this Mustang named "Eleanor" is its original matching numbers 289ci 325hp 4bbl which has been completely rebuilt from top to bottom. Less than 2000 miles have been added to this engine since the rebuild in 2005 and again, receipts document it all. The complete engine and drive train was rebuilt by Mr Bill Dugan, a well known Long Island engine builder with 40 years experience. The additional power (325hp) partly comes from its Hi-Rise Edelbrock manifold, Edelbrock 600cfm 4bbl carburetor, polished aluminum headers and a brand new 5 speed Tremec transmission. The original transmission is included in the sale! Front Force 10 Piston Aluminum Caliper Disc Brakes all around are needed to stop this thing!! 17" Precision GT wheels and much more key features were added. All are listed in the documents included. Several restoration photos are also shown. More are in the binder waiting for the new owner. The original odometer reads 84935 however this car is all new.
The constant upkeep and maintenance of the car throughout the years and since the 2004 restoration, has kept this "Eleanor" conversion in tip-top condition mechanically and in overall appearance. There is nothing you need to do but Go!
