1980 Mercedes Benz 450SL Roadster! Finished in grey metallic over
grey leather, this 29 year-old R107 chassic two-tops roadster has
been driven just over 243,700 miles showing on the working
six-digit odometer. It sports a good running 4.5 liter V8 engine
mated to the factory automatic transmission, electric windows,
factory alloy wheels with newer Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires, factory
hardtop and non-matching gold hard top along with rolling factory
hard top stand. This classic SL Roadster is being sold with clear
and clean Florida title, factory owner's manual and original top
removal wrench! Offered here at NO RESERVE, this is a great value
for about the cost of the sales tax alone on a new C class benz!
THE BODY AND TRIM This exterior of this 1980 Benz is in presentable
condition overall with a nice overall shine to the paint finish.
Upon close inspection you will find a few corrosion bubbles along
with various paint cracking areas, nicks, small scratches and
scrapes and other cosmetic blemishes. The soft top is in excellent
condition and the gold hardtop is also in very good original
condition. Overall I would describe this car as a quite nice
'ten-footer'. THE INTERIOR As I hope is articulated in the photos,
the interior of this '80 450sl is in good condition overall with
what looks to be original leather upholstery and carpets and nice
headliner with expected wear and tear on the heat-cracking dash,
wood, center console area and other trim bits. The horn, lights and
blinkers function, the driver side window is intermittent but the
radio and right front window are both not operating currently.
There is no a/c or heat as well. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE This nearly
40 year-old Benz starts well with decent running engine that idles
high, good shifting transmission and fairly solid straight braking
and somewhat worn suspension components. There is a squealing sound
from the engine as well.
