This fabulous 1947 Ford Super Deluxe convertible has been
completely restored to concours-quality. It was designed to
replicate the famous car from the movie "The Karate Kid." In the
1984 film, Mr. Miyagi gives Daniel Larusso a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe
convertible as a birthday gift, which Daniel used to drive his
girlfriend, Ali Mills, to Golf N Stuff. Actor Ralph Macchio, who
played Daniel, still has the original car today. This example was
the product of a comprehensive restoration, which was completed in
2016. The body was taken off the frame, disassembled and put on a
rotisserie to allow great attention to detail. The frame was
stripped and refinished. Receipts and photos of the restoration
before and after are included. Everything on this car was restored
or replaced. The body is extremely straight with great gaps
throughout. The car was painted Maize Yellow, which looks
absolutely beautiful. The paint job is high-quality and shines like
a star. The car sports a new tan cloth power convertible top that
looks and operates wonderfully. The top is from Classic Tops and is
also high quality. All of the glass was replaced new and fits very
nicely. This car has a lot of brightwork, which was sent out to be
restored and it looks brilliant. It's equipped with a spotlight,
which adds the extra touch. The car sits proudly on yellow wheels
with chrome hubcaps. The wheels are wrapped with new Cooker Classic
whitewall radial tires, which are 6.00R16. The exterior is
complemented with a gorgeous tan leather and cloth interior. This
interior is very spacious and luxurious. Nothing was left untouched
in this interior, including all of the gauges. The quality of the
upholstery on the door panels and seats is remarkable. It has a
simulated wood-grain dash and a fresh air heating system. The
wipers were converted to electric and the radio was converted to
FM. The trunk compartment is highly detailed and home to the
matching spare with tools. The engine compartment is highly
detailed throughout with many correct parts. The painted firewall
looks great. The car is powered by a 239ci V8 engine that is
factory rated at 100hp. The engine was professionally rebuilt and
runs excellent. It has an electronic ignition system for easy
starting. The engine breathes through factory manifolds and a new
dual exhaust system with cherry bomb mufflers that sound awesome.
The engine is coupled to the 3-speed manual transmission that
shifts smoothly. The transmission was professionally rebuilt, and
it has all-new clutch components. The rear end was also
professionally rebuilt. The undercarriage is highly detailed
throughout. The underbody was painted body color and looks super.
The gas tank was replaced new. The steering system, suspension
system and braking system was also replaced new. Unlike many Ford
Super Deluxe convertibles, this car was restored to a high level.
This car is one of the most beautiful examples ever assembled, and
the fact it was designed to replicate the car from the movie "The
Karate Kid" makes it special. This car has recently been serviced
and detailed, which is documented with an invoice that is included.
