Vehicle Description
The Mercedes-Benz SLs of the 1980s and 1990s were an instant
classic, still sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Needless to say, the end of the 20th century was a great time for
Mercedes convertibles. A lesser known cabriolet counterpart is the
300CE. While it shares the appeal of the SL-class, the 300CE is a
totally different animal! Based on the MB W124 chassis, this is a
full size car with a comfortable back seat, car phone, and
power-operated soft top to fill all your automotive needs. The W124
platform was the successor to the legendary W123 platform, and a
worthy successor at that. Many great cars were based on this
platform, but perhaps none as unique as the 300CE.
Only produced from 1990-1993, the 300CE is already likely to be a
rare find. Official production numbers from Daimler notes that just
6,343 units were produced during that 3-year production run, making
this an increasingly harder to find vehicle as the years go by.
This 1993 Mercedes 300CE is a gorgeous example, and has been
well-preserved by the original, current, and only owner. That's
right; this silver bullet is a one-owner car! It is still on the
original 1993 title and is on consignment for the original owner.
The AutoCheck report is as clean as a whistle, and backs up the
mileage to a "T." The original paint may not be as perfect as it
was the day it rolled off the lot, but it still has a nice shine to
it and reflects decades of maintenance. The top is in excellent
condition, and is fully functional exactly as it should be. The
top's hydraulic system was recently serviced to ensure it stays
working!
The interior is as nice as one can expect for a car of this age,
and it is truly in excellent condition. Even the car phone is still
present! Every single thing on this car works properly, from the
convertible top to the automatic seatbelt arms. With these older
Mercedes, having everything working can be tough to find! The seats
are comfortable, the A/C is cold, and you can't shake the feeling
of being a successful businessperson in the 1990s while behind the
wheel.
Under the hood is the Mercedes 3.0 liter inline six cylinder
engine. A smooth running engine when properly maintained, this car
runs like a sewing machine! It has plenty of pep for a car that
wasn't designed exclusively as a sport car, and drives exactly the
way any true Mercedes should. The transmission shifts smoothly, and
driving this car is nothing short of comfortable. Both the engine
bay and underside are as clean as the rest of the car; exactly as
one would expect in a well-maintained, one-owner vehicle.
If you're in the market for a unique rad-era European convertible,
but want something that stands out, the 300CE is worth considering.
If you've already been on the hunt for one, your search may just
end here with this turn-key, fully functional, well-maintained,
one-owner car. Don't miss your chance to own this beautiful classic
MB!
