1961 Mercury Comet
Original Car; Just over 80,000 Original Miles.; Inline 6-Cyl. 170cid Ford, 1, 3-Sp. Manual on the column; Runs & Drives Great.
FEATURES: This is an un-restored, all-original vehicle that is in very good condition for an original “normal use” vehicle. It was built in Kansas City (per the VIN). Great Starter Project. No Rust Holes, Only Surface Rust. Drive Train is All Original. Windshield wiper s are vacuum operated from the fuel pump and they still work.
BONUSES: Brand New 13″ Tires, Master Brake Cylinder, Spark Plugs and brand new fuel pickup and gauge assembly in the tank. The gas tank has been removed and cleaned out. The single-barrel carburetor is a Holley, which ha also been rebuilt. In addition, it has a good battery, wires, cap and condenser. This car does not leak any fluids.
NEEDS: Interior needs to be redone to be nice. There are bumps and bruises on the body. Most of the chrome is good, but all the “Comet” emblems are missing and the exterior mirror needs replaced. The radio is missing. This car is so original that the generator is still on it – works and is in use, but has a hard time keeping up. The original Muffler is still on it and needs replaced. The heater core has been bypassed due to a leak and needs to be replaced for the heater to work.
