Vehicle Description
1999 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
Corvettes didn't always call Kentucky home. In 1953, the first 300
were built by hand in Flint, Michigan, just after General Motors
unveiled the Corvette as a "dream car" in the Motorama show in New
York's Waldorf Astoria hotel. The following year, production moved
to St. Louis. In June of 1981, Corvette production transferred from
St. Louis to Bowling Green, Kentucky. The facility has remained the
exclusive home of the Corvette for over 30 years. Known around the
world as America's sports car, the Corvette exemplifies the
definition of innovation.
For consignment Classic Auto Mall's sole example of a 1999
Corvette. With over 55 models representing nearly every year, this
is the 1999! An original two owner car, played with, then neatly
put away for the next time, we now have a low original mileage
(46,030) car that has led a good life, and is now offered for
another's enjoyment.
Exterior
Near perfect Torch Red fiberglass is draped over the
high-performance chassis of this car. Hidden headlights, and
integrated bumpers provide the aero package that can whisk you down
the highway with just a touch of the throttle. A black convertible
top, which functions flawlessly is in very nice condition, and has
a clear glass rear window. This style Corvette wins the award for
best rear styling with the round imbedded taillights, and the quad
exhaust piercing out the center of the integrated rear bumper. 17"
5 spoke polished wheels are upfront and 18" in the rear.
Interior
Sporty black leather buckets grab you with a sit inside. Black door
panels with nearly every power control one could want border these
buckets. Leather is in good condition with a few wrinkles, and
areas of wear, but very presentable. A heads-up display, along with
cruise control, a power memory seat, power telescoping steering
wheel all wrapped up in a curved dash that presents very clean.
Black carpet floods the floors and is in very nice condition. Ride
control and active handling knobs are conveniently located just
behind the shift lever.
Drivetrain
A well-manicured 345hp 5.7 Liter LS1 V8 is seen with a front flip
of the hood. This has EFI, and a T56 6-speed manual transmission
attached. The 3.42 upgraded rear axle configuration, and active
handling package handle the power this active mill produces.
Undercarriage
Extreme clean sums it up underneath looking very close to showroom
with a touch of patina from just plain old enjoying this fine
sports car. C5 Corvette suspension all around as are 4-wheel power
disc brakes. A stainless steel Borla exhaust system is noted.
Drive-Ability
An extremely quick starter, and runner. This LS1 V8 can push this
car very quickly up to speed, and due to the comfortable interior,
even with the top down, it is hard to tell exactly how fast you are
really traveling. Overall a good driving experience, and easy
manual shifter. All the power options are functional, and the
stereo sounds fab!
The ONLY 1999 Corvette currently in inventory, and this one is well
cared for, played with and nicely put away in a temp controlled
garage, well maintained, and is just a fun car to drive. Nothing
like being low to the ground and taking a corner like it is not
even there...Wild!
