Formal, classic and traditional, Cadillac?s Brougham is the
marque?s final rear-drive formal sedan. This example is one of
27,231 Broughams made during 1991. It has been garage kept by the
owner for the past near decade (2010) of ownership. Made in GM?s
Arlington, Texas factory, this Brougham is dressed in Bright Silver
Metallic with a Light Gray accent stripe and a Gunmetal padded
vinyl roof. The car?s paint and trim are in good overall condition,
with only minor blemishes visible at close range. This car is
overall in great condition and shows well for a 28 year old Caddy!
This Cadillac has a straight body, the engine bay is extremely tidy
and well-kept, the battery looks good, the trunk is clean and
includes a separate mat and cover for the full-size spare tire. The
chrome bumpers are in very good order. This big Caddy rolls on
Vercelli Classic 787 radials, size 225/70R15 all around. Each tire
is mounted on a steel wheel, topped with a wire wheel cover. The
tires are in very good order while the wheel covers are in good,
original order. A new-for-1991 standard ride package featured
deflected-disc shock absorbers, new body mounts and high-rate front
and rear springs. Under the hood is GM?s 5.0L V-8 with
throttle-body fuel injection, roller valve lifters for less
friction and cast iron exhaust manifolds for minimal flow
resistance. Backing this motor is a 700R4 four-speed automatic
transmission and a 3.08:1 differential. Driver convenience features
are, as expected, plentiful. This Brougham has automatic climate
control, power steering with electronic variable orifice, power
brakes with drums in front and Bosch II anti-lock (ABS) all around,
cruise control, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors,
six-way power front seats, front passenger power recliner, power
trunk pulldown, overhead passenger assist handles, illuminated
front vanity mirrors and power antenna. Inside, the Dark Gray
leather interior is in good, original order. The 50/50 split front
bench seat looks good but there?s a blemish on the passenger side.
The gray carpet is in similar shape to the seats, as is the
headliner. The two-spoke steering wheel is wrapped in matching
leather and in very good order, as are the instrument panel and
inner door panels while the column-mounted shift lever has a
matching leather handle and is in good, original condition the
antenna is missing and the power motor is on constant. Standard
rear reading lamps there?s a Delco-Bose AM/FM stereo with cassette
deck and graphic equalizer to complete the interior. A 1990
facelift, the first one since 1980, was necessitated by a
redesigned Town Car from rival Lincoln. For 1990, Brougham received
a new digital dash cluster inside, composite headlamps,
contemporary taillamp lenses and flush bumper moldings.
Additionally, that year, door-mounted front seatbelts became
standard in order to meet federal safety standards as no driver's
side airbag was available. Competition to this Brougham in 1991
included Audi?s 200 Turbo, Avanti?s Touring Sedan, BMW?s 730i,
Buick?s Park Avenue, Chrysler?s Imperial and New Yorker, Lincoln?s
Town Car, Mercedes-Benz?s 300 SEL and Oldsmobile?s 98 Regency. For
anyone age 40 and older, this is the Cadillac you remember while
growing up ? slim, vertical taillights, sharp-edged styling,
stand-up hood ornament, padded vinyl roofs. These cars were common
sights in television shows, movies, as de facto limousines,
Broughams like this were ubiquitous. Cadillac collectors, those who
look for vehicles that have just become classics or someone who
simply wants to wallow in a big, comfy cruiser that will handle
most any task asked of it, should drop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars
to check out this ?91 Brougham. VIN: 1G6DW54E9MR714796 This car is
currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. It is
sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title.
