Absolutely gorgeous 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster Replica! This beautiful Ivory Replica has 11,200 miles and is in amazing condition and runs and drives as good as it looks! That’s correct, I did say Replica, but not just any replica….this speedster was hand built by Vintage Speedsters out of California, the #1 builder of Porsche Speedster Replicas. In fact they have built about 90% of all the Porsche Speedster replicas on the market and their quality and customer service is top notch. They use a custom built, jog welded 2×4″ 11 gauge steel frame. This rigid new structure retains the original VW floor pan designed by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and integrates the largest frame possible. In addition the steering wheel is offset slightly just as it was in the original Speedster. While original Speedsters are a rare breed, Vintage Speedster Replicas are rare in their own right with roughly only 3000 built. This will be a great addition to any car guy or gals collection, or perfect for anyone looking for a truly unique sports car investment that can be driven anywhere as well be taken to the car shows and cruise-ins. I know this car quite well as I actually sold it to a gentleman about 2 years ago who lived in NJ. He loved the car but with all of his other toys and a short driving season he simply was not using it as much as he had hoped and call me to see if I was interested in buying it back which of course I did. He only added about 400 miles in the 2 years he drove it but he kept it covered in his garage and in the exact condition I had sold it to him.
As you will see in the pics the body on this Speedster is in amazing condition. Body panel fit is fantastic and the doors on this replica open and shut like a new Porsche. Everyone who sees this car is extremely impressed with how authentic it looks. Other than a few small rock chips on the front bumper, and 2 behind the license plate bracket that were touched up it is near flawless. All of the chrome trim and stainless looks excellent. This one has the bumper guards and headlight grille guards. It also has the added fog lights and a nice trunk luggage rack that you can strap that picnic basket or vintage luggage on to. I believe these Speedsters should be driven top down as often as possible but of course it is nice to know that if needed this Speedster has a gorgeous black convertible top that goes up in minutes and fits very nicely. There are 2 different side window inserts as well. One set is a custom set of clear plexi inserts thats can be used when the top is down.The top is in like new condition. When you have the top down you have 2 options with this car since it was ordered with the optional full tonneau cover which allows you to close the whole cabin of the car when it is parked and zip out the drivers area during your ride. Or, simply use the boot cover. But please, enjoy this baby topless as much as possible!!!
Complimenting the Ivory exterior is an equally impressive tan, distressed leather interior. This has to be one of the best color combinations on these cars!! The interior is also essentially flawless. Simplistic sophistication is the best way to describe the layout of the interior. Very comfortable and supportive bucket seats look close to new. Seat belts for both front passengers. There is a rear seat pad but I think it is more like a storage shelf than a seat. Door panels and carpeting look great. Dash is neatly laid out with all of the gauges you need to monitor the performance of this air cooled 1915 cc dual carb engine. All of the gauges, lights, turn signals etc are working correctly. There is also a great upgraded Sony am/fm/cd that has been neatly installed under the dash and sounds great.A 12V charging port is also located under the dash Beautiful Ivory Banjo steering wheel with Porsche center emblem looks awesome. Nice set of Coco mats finish out the interior.
This is the 12th Vintage Speedster I have owned so I knew what to expect when it this one arrived. However, I when I got my first one I have to admit I was a little skeptical about how much fun it would be to drive. Well, after driving that first one I was immediately a fan and this one, with just over 11,000 miles on it drives just as good as the first one. If you ask me if the car is fast I will be honest and tell you no it is not. If you ask me if it is fun to drive I will enthusiastically say absolutely yes!!! These cars have a serious fun factor unlike anything else. The 1915 cc dual carb air cooled engine is nice and peppy and cruises along at highway speeds with no problem. The motor was gone through recently by a California engine builder who specializes in these motors. He added a new set of EMPI Dual 40 IDF HPMX carburetors and Magnaspark II distributor with electronic ignition. A complete tune up with new plugs and wires was done.This particular car also has the upgraded 3.88 Freeway flyer transmission. The car has a nice tone from the tri-mil dual exhaust and you can hear it running in the video that follows. This little speedster also handles really well with front sway bar,adjustable front suspension, adjustable rear swing plates, and close to new set of Pirelli tires on a beautiful set of chrome wheels with the Porsche emblems. . Braking is a breeze with the upgraded front disc brake option this one has. Maintenance is cheap and easy on this car and any foreign car mechanics should be able to do a valve adjustment and tune up every 3-4,000 miles to keep it running great The undercarriage looks great and engine bay is also nice and clean as you would expect.. Plenty of storage in the front trunk area so go ahead and take that weekend trip to the mountains or the beach, it will be a ride to remember but make sure you leave a little extra time for all the questions and thumbs up you will get along the way. There is nothing this car needs but you in the drivers seat!! It is Titled as a 1965 VW which makes it easy to register and insure.
