The Buick Gran Sport was launched in 1964 as Buick's answer to the
Pontiac GTO. The 1968 Buick GS was based on a Skylark Custom and
available with a 350-cid V-8 with 4-barrel and 280 horsepower. The
California GS added a vinyl roof and was only available with an
automatic transmission - and was relatively rare with only 4,831
produced. We are extremely pleased to offer this honest, unrestored
original 1968 GS California - with only two previous owners and 43k
(believed accurate) miles to show. Sold new in Butte, MT in August
1968 it remained there until 1990 when it was purchased and driven
back to WI by the second owner, who cared for it over the past 29
years, storing it every winter and always keeping it garaged. When
I drove this car I could not believe how smooth, comfortable, and
quiet the ride was - not a rattle or clunk to be heard, effortless
steering - just an awesome driving car. This car has never been
restored, but the original interior shows hardly any wear, the
vinyl top is almost like new, the only items that give you any
indication that it is over 50 years old are the character marks on
the rust free body - there are some scratches and a few dings here
and there, but nothing that takes away from the car - it's only
original once, and to find one like this with such few miles is
amazing. This is a car that you can buy and enjoy right away! If
you desire to take it to the next level, this is about as good of a
start as you can hope for - no rust or major body work needed prior
to painting...no vinyl top to replace...no interior that needs to
be replaced...just a great find!! Reasonable offers considered, we
can help with financing and shipping, just ask. Thank you!
