Vehicle Description
The successor to the Chevrolet Advance-Design series trucks, the
Task Force was one heck of a flashy modern replacement! Mirroring
styling elements found in many GM cars at the time, particularly
the Bel Air, the Task Force series was introduced in 1955 and
brought a new look to GM trucks. The direct predecessor to the
venerable Apache pickup, these trucks carry a unique look while
sharing plenty of attractive features of the Apache. An obvious
choice for a stylish street rod, its no wonder this blue 1957
Chevrolet pickup looks so good!
The exterior of this truck is custom, but in a mild, minimalist
sort of way. While the door handles are shaved and the tail lights
are custom, it still retains the classic look. The medium blue
paint has a gorgeous finish to it, and really highlights the shape
and design of the body. The bed has been bedlined for added
durability, and the gas tank filler has been relocated to the bed
both for safety and appearance purposes. If you look closely,
you'll see an old-school pickup truck street rod trick has been
used as a latching system for the tailgate. GM seat belt ends have
been installed, making the tailgate very secure and easy to
release. Plus, the buckles make for a nice and tidy bed!
The interior is custom, just as one would expect. Modern leather
bucket seats have been installed along with a matching leather
console with cupholders. The door panels are aftermarket
flame-pattern, but tasteful. Power windows and remote door poppers
bring this truck into the 21st century. A slick digital instrument
cluster has been used in favor of the original analog gauges and
looks right at home with a blue backlight. You'll notice a Vintage
Air control panel, which is indicative of the cold modern A/C
system that has been installed. Perfect for cruising on a hot day!
To keep the dash looking smooth and clean, a custom overhead
console was put in place to house an aftermarket radio and
tweeters. With a modern stereo system and A/C, this pickup is truly
equipped for all your cruising needs!
Under the hood is a Chevrolet LT-1 350V8. Naturally, this is a
fuel-injected engine which is much of the appeal. Billet pulley
covers, a chrome alternator, custom engine cover, and a tidied up
firewall make the engine bay just as appealing as the rest of the
truck! This puppy fires right up like a modern vehicle, and has
plenty of power to get off the line. Flame-pattern engraved valve
covers stick to the custom theme without being over the top. The
LT-1 is hooked up to a 4L60E transmission and sitting on coilover
shocks at all four corners, which means this bad boy is set up
right! This looks like a well done custom, making this '57 Chevy a
turn-key street rod cruiser!
If you're looking for something unique that you can drive any time
you like, don't overlook this truck. It is a tastefully done mild
custom with plenty of flash and appeal without being over the top.
Don't let this one-of-a-kind custom classic slip away!
