Vehicle Description
2008 BMW M5
BMW (Bavarian Motor Works in English) is a German multinational
company which currently produces luxury automobiles and
motorcycles, and also produced aircraft engines until 1945. The
white and blue checker boxes are supposed to be a stylized
representation of a white/silver propeller blade spinning against a
clear blue sky. For BMW, it was 'a happy coincidence' that the BMW
logo symbolized the Bavarian flag colors and represented the
company's origin.
Arguably the most sought-after series in the history of the M5, the
E60 was introduced in 2005 with a huge, naturally-aspirated
5.0-liter S85 V10 making 507hp under the hood. It was the first
sedan to have a V10, and with a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds and a top
speed of 204mp, it was the fastest sedan in the world at that time.
Truly supercar performance in a Tuxedo.
Exterior
In all black Darth Vader-like form, this car presents very nicely.
Adorned with HID Xenon self auto, auto leveling, cornering
headlights, they can definitely see you coming, but will have no
idea of how fast it will really happen. Otherwise the Black
Sapphire Metallic looks beautiful. A nice sunroof is atop, and
allows a great airflow when opened, although it may just be the
fact that you are over 100mph?! Nifty power folding and heated
exterior mirrors are a nice feature. Original 19"M wheels powder
coated in...black really show off the large disc brakes situated
behind them. A full set of "Winter" tires and wheels are coming
along with this car...see photo. Last but not least, this car is
equipped with front and rear park distance sensors.
Interior
Stepping into the cockpit, we smell and see a full Extended
Portland Brown leather interior in the color way of Sepang. All
looking and feeling very nice. Also tickling our fancy is the
curvaceous center console which has Maderia Walnut high gloss trim
surrounding matte metal gearshift cover, and a knob style "mouse"
to operate the screen in the dash above. Out back is a leather
matching rear bench, which not to be outdone by the buckets is
heated also. Multiple way seat adjustment for total comfort or
sports mode, will grab you and your attention. To further protect
the rear passengers, we note a power rear window sunshade. The
power, heated, tilt, telescope steering wheel with audio, cruise
control, phone and voice controls emanates gracefully from the
dash. Speaking of the dash there is a wonderful amalgamation of
padded leather, more Maderia Walnut, and a plethora of bells and
whistles. GPS Navigation is installed, and there is a push button
start.
Drivetrain
A massive 5.0 liter V10 which will produce 500hp is fed by
electronic fuel injection. This is backed by an SMG 3- 7 speed
electrohydraulic manual transmission. No clutch to push...just flip
the shifter.
Undercarriage
As expected well sorted under here with no rust or anything
remarkable on the negative side. We note independent suspension
with damper control with 3 modes: comfort, normal and sport. Power
disc brakes will woah all these horses very quickly.
Drive-Ability
Pushing the button brought the mill to immediate life. A bit of a
warmup, but trips around the Classic Auto Mall lot, revealed
awesome power, great brakes, and a smooth ride in any of the 3
available modes. Seats were comfortable, and all controls are
functioning as expected. With the dual exhaust, we are met with a
nice sound.
Make no bones about it, this car looks like a mild mannered
everyday sedan but in its belly is a true beast. Great performance,
luxurious conveniences, several drive modes, a nifty shifter setup,
and you can go for a run, or just a night out, and this car can
handle it exquisitely.
