For sale is a 1949 Cadillac Series 61 sedan in excellent original condition. This car is a solid piece of Cadillac history with the original 331 cubic inch motor that runs like a sewing machine. Smooth and quiet. The interior, headliner, dash, bright work, chrome, trim, engine, transmission, body, glass, is all original. The lacquer paint is in excellent brilliant condition but it's unclear whether it's the original paint or not. I've had "experts" tell me that it is, but I have no proof or documentation to say one way or the other. I am purported to be the 3rd owner based on the gentleman I bought it from who had it for 35+ years.
This car has won numerous awards over the years including Best in Class, Best of Show, People's Choice, and Celebrities Choice at Hot August Nights. It was also a featured photo in the August 2018 edition of Street Rodder Magazine.
The original 4 speed Hydramatic transmission shifts just like it's supposed to and has recently been serviced. Other items which I had done to it include:
4 NEW radial 3" wide white-wall tires - I WILL INCLUDE THE 4 BIAS PLY WIDE WHITE WALL TIRES THAT WERE ON THERE
Rear end flush, new brakes
12 inch electric cooling fan (hidden under the housing in front of the radiator - manual switch hidden under the dash)
I did install an electronic ignition system
Cooling system and radiator completely flushed and serviced.
All the electrical components work great, headlights, turn signals, horn, wipers, reverse lights, license plate light, dash lights, interior lights, heater system. Radio and clock do not work. This car does not have power brakes or power steering.
All the glass (13 windows) are original and in excellent shape. I've driven this car to shows hundreds of miles away with my club and have had no issues. Up and down steep grades in the mountains along Lake Tahoe with no issue. This car is ready to take to the next car show without hesitation.
