I have a 1953 Dodge M37 Power Wagon, 3/4 ton, 4-wheel drive with a flat head inline 6 cylinder engine that I want to sell. It has a new battery, newer fuel pump and alternator, snowplow and winch, windshield wipers, spare tire. I have the tailgate for it as well. The brakes are not currently connected, headlights work. The truck has just been used for driveway snowplowing for the past 35 years. It has not been driven on the hwy since 1984. It was last driven August 2018. We started it up 8/23/19 and it roared to life but we spotted a fuel leak coming from the carburetor and had to shut it off. My husband replaced the original gas tank about 10 yrs ago as the truck was having trouble starting and he determined the tank was in bad shape. The gas tank now sits in the bed of the truck. There are hoses running from the engine up thru a hole in the bed of the truck to the gas tank. It will have to be trailered when sold. I have a clean title for it.
This truck used to belong to the city of Santa Barbara in southern California. The driver's side door had a City of Santa Barbara seal on it when my husband bought it in 1974. He worked on the truck to get it in good running condition after he bought it and it then became his daily driver. The front windows open out which was handy when grabbing burgers and drinks at the local fast food restaurant as we would just set our burgers and drinks on the hood while eating! When we got married in 1974 this truck was our only vehicle and we drove it almost 600 miles, (on the freeway no less!), to northern California where we were making our home. And yes, it can do 50 mph! The truck has been here ever since. That was it's only long distance trip. Early on we used the truck for everything from getting our annual Christmas tree out in the woods, to carrying firewood that we cut for our wood stove, & exploring all the back roads and logging roads around our area. We went on many a camping trip in this truck, fording rivers in it, which it was great at! My husband also used to drive this truck to work 50 miles round trip. However, for the last 35 yrs of it's life, it has only been used on our property, mainly snowplowing, as my husband made a custom snowplow for the front. It works great! These trucks are real workhorses and the engines are so distinctive in their sound, powerful and mean business! I would love to sell it to the right person who would appreciate it for the very unique vehicle that it is.
