2000 Rolls Royce Silver Seraph: The 2000 Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph
shared the same platform as the Bentley Arnage and was the first
12-cylinder Rolls-Royce since the 1939 Phantom III. The 12-cylinder
powerplant was courtesy of BMW and mated to a five-speed automatic
transmission. It came equipped with traction control, Connolly
leather, burr walnut wood trim, and many luxurious amenities.
Between 1998 through 2002, just 1,570 examples of the Silver Seraph
were produced. For 2000, the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph was given
several updates increasing an increase to the rear seat dimensions,
a GPS navigation system, and Park Distance Control. The exterior
mirrors could now be folded in with just the touch of a button. The
4-door Saloon had a base price of $219,900 and was the least
expensive vehicle in the Rolls-Royce lineup. Developed with help
from the BMW Group and powered by a 5.4-liter BMW V12 engine, the
Seraph was a far more modern car with up-to-the minute electronics
controlling the adaptive ride control, five-speed automatic
transmission and a plethora of safety equipment. Body stiffness was
said to have improved by 65% producing a better ride, handling and
increased drive-ability. The long wheelbase version was named the
Park Ward. The Silver Seraph was the last model to be built at
Crewe and was effectively the first all-new Rolls-Royce since the
launch of the Silver Shadow more than 30 years earlier. Driving in
luxury and and driving a Rolls-Royce have always been synonymous.
Since the manufacturers establishment in 1904 to present,
Rolls-Royce vehicle have been the apex of the consumer car market.
