Vehicle Description
Impressively clean and relentlessly stock, this 1969 Chevrolet
Blazer K5 4x4 sure is a welcome sight. From all indications it's
been thoroughly well cared for throughout its substantial lifetime
and, with its rock-solid foundation and strong running condition,
is well-positioned for plenty more years of driving enjoyment both
on and off the asphalt. This pivotal SUV will also pull into its
next owner's garage offering some historical perspective via an
assortment of flyers representing the car shows it's participated
in over the years.
Chevy ushered in their first class of K5 Blazers the year this '69
came out. They're certainly a sturdy looking bunch, with their
broad tracks and brawny forms, and the model's generously sized
wheel wells equip them with substantial wheel clearance - something
that really comes in handy when conquering rough terrain. Still in
thoroughly stock configuration, it's got a well-maintained
appearance, looking sharp in its magnetic green paint that sits
under a strong clearcoat for a nice shine. Very clean looking
bumpers are in place both fore and aft, the side mirrors look fresh
and the Blazer emblems on the front fenders, as well as the
Chevrolet lettering on its tailgate, look particularly sharp. The
glass surrounding the cabin is clear and blemish free and all the
window seals are in fine condition. That removable white hard top
perched on the cabin is a great feature - its clean condition and
contrasting color really grab your attention, while removing it
easily converts this vehicle into an open air all-terrain
cruiser.
Inside the cabin, the interior still looks solid overall. You can
find evidence of wear in the expected places - most notably the
driver's seat - but the components are solidly in place and ready
for action, with the exception of the original AM radio, which will
need a little help to regain its voice. There are plenty of
positives as well - the seating still feels nice and firm for good
support while on the road, and the rear bench, center console and
all arm rests are looking clean, as does the entire dash area up
front, with its collection of factory gauges functioning properly
behind clear lenses. The carpet clings to the floor nicely and
there's plenty of real estate separating the two rows of seating,
so your backseat passengers will ride in comfort. Owing to this
Blazer's substantial cabin size, there's quite a bit of storage
space on hand behind the rear bench seat.
The period correct 307 cubic inch V8 under the hood is likely the
original engine and still wears its original intake and exhaust
manifolds and 2-barrel carb. It's running strong and smooth as it
pairs with a 3 speed manual transmission that's navigated by a "3
on a tree" shifter inside the cabin. The engine sits in a clean and
tidy compartment, surrounded by fresh hoses. Despite its
considerable tenure of service, this Blazer's 4-wheel drive feature
is in good working order and is easily activated by the lever
mounted on the transmission tunnel whenever the call of the terrain
beyond the asphalt might beckon. With power steering and power
brakes on board, this classic Chevy also has the road manners
suited for everyday driving - its ride is surprisingly quiet and it
tracks straight ahead on its set of 15x5.5 steel wheels wrapped
with BF Goodrich Rugged All-Terrain tires.
