Vehicle Description
1980 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency
The Ninety Eight model from Oldsmobile was first released back in
1940. It was kept in production as Oldsmobile's full size model all
the way until 1996. This 1980 belongs to the 10th generation of
cars and has been very well maintained. There weren't a lot of
appearance changes compared to other years of the generation except
for the hood being sloped and trunk raised for better aerodynamics.
In addition to being a Ninety Eight this one is also a Regency
which was the premier trim level at the time. Since it was top of
the line for Oldsmobile it is packed with all the latest and
greatest technology available at the time. It is painted in a light
Blue Mist color which is the original paint. It has a few chips
here and there but really looks good for being original. The
original vinyl top was done to match and is excellent condition as
well. The car wears all of its original chrome and stainless which
looks great. Not too many years later we would see cars getting
less and less chrome as more manufacturers started option for
painted plastic pieces. The car is all steel except for the small
piece between the body and rear bumper. It is very common to find
this piece damage or even missing on these cars. This one still has
it and it is in good condition. It even comes with an extra in it
gets damaged in the future. The car rides around on its original
wheels with Spoke hubcaps and just received a new set of P225/75R15
American Classic 1.6 inch white wall tires.
One change that did happen in 1980 was the offering of a new 307
(5.0L) V8 motor like what this one has under the hood. It is topped
with a 4 barrel carb and runs very well. It starts up smoothly,
doesn't smoke and is a very comfortable car to drive. It has just
been serviced and in addition to new tires got a new battery and
new shocks as well. The automatic transmission shifts nicely and
the power brakes/power steering makes it an easy driver.
Checking out the plush cloth Blue interior and it is clear to see
the car has been taken care of. The back seats look as though
nobody has ever even sit in them. Everything has been very well
maintained from the carpet up to the headliner. The dash has the
original layout including all of the original wood trim featured
throughout. All of the gauges, knobs and switches are working
correctly...even the clock!
This nice Ninety Eight is a very solid survivor type original car
that has a lot of life ahead of it.
