Built for nearly twenty years from 1974 though 1993 model year, the
200 series of Volvo was extremely popular. so popular in fact that
it overlapped production of another series by several years. It was
available in a number of variations and a multitude of engine
variations throughout the years. two-door, four-door and wagons
were available with only a few small cosmetic design changes in
that time as well as safety features. While we are discussing
safety features we all know that Volvo was the first automaker to
make extreme changes to the safety of automobiles and is still a
leader in that category. But did you know that they were also the
first to introduce environmental friendly automobiles with the
first of its kind emissions control using a three way design that
incorporated a three-way catalytic converter and sensor for exhaust
emission called the Lambda Sond Sensor which is integrated in to
this car. This particular 242 DL comes from the salt free area of
the Pacific North West and has never seen a Midwest winter. It has
original paint with some fading more that than the other parts of
the car on the passenger door. It is the coveted 2-door version
with the desirable B21 engine mated to a 4-speed manual. This car
is very rust-free for its age and use. It is a excellent driver
quality car that starts, runs and goes down the road as you would
expect a Volvo to do.
