Vehicle Description
There's no re-badging sleight of hand going on here! This 1965
Chevrolet Impala SS is the real deal - the top tier version of a
model that's as closely linked with classic car culture as it gets.
This outstanding and stylish cruiser will arrive at its next
destination with a build sheet on board to attest to its
authenticity, and with an unusually low 82,000 miles logged during
its substantial lifetime, is well-positioned to offer plenty of
vintage magic to its next lucky owner.
This Impala is not only a member of a generation that featured a
near folkloric reputation, but also enjoyed outstanding popularity.
The model was thoroughly redesigned the year this '65 came out, and
the modifications no doubt contributed to its huge success, as it
logged what was at the time an all-time industry annual sales
record. Just a quick glance at this outstanding specimen and you
can see the reason for all the fuss. It's a great looking car - the
teal it wears over its exterior was an original color choice during
this era and, along with an overall configuration that remains
unaltered from its debut, with the exception of a set of
jaw-dropping aftermarket wheels and a slightly lower, more
aggressive stance, equips the car with a thoroughly authentic
presence. The collection of chrome on display here is in clean
condition, as is the badging positioned on all four sides to
proclaim this Chevy's special status, and the exterior alignment
appears to be very much on point - when viewed from the front, the
hood blends smoothly with the surrounding fenders - and the doors,
hood and deck lid open and close without issue.
Considering that the teal and white interior this Impala features
has yet to receive any attention since it began service, it's in
pretty solid condition. As expected, given its survivor status,
there's a bit of wear over the surfaces of the special edition
Super Sport buckets and surrounding door panels, but the seating is
still surprisingly firm and there are no glaring issues to be found
- take a glance upward and you'll see that the headliner is in
outright great shape. Just in front of the sizable original
steering wheel, the dash is looking solid, with an assortment of
functional gauges in its instrument cluster and a straight,
uncracked dash pad running across the top. This iconic ride left
the factory with air conditioning already installed and it
continues to blow plenty strong but would benefit from a freon
charge to be at its best. Raise the deck lid and you'll see the
trunk area is clean and solid, with a fresh expanse of carpet
lining its floor and a full size spare stowed inside.
The engine compartment on this '65 has been nicely maintained, and
a 327 cubic inch V8 - arguably Chevy's most popular small block
during its era - stands eagerly by at its center, crowned by a
4-barrel carb underneath a clean black air cleaner that contrasts
perfectly with its orange block. The powerplant is in good form,
pairing with a period correct 2-speed automatic transmission to
provide a very strong vintage driving experience. Upgraded tubular
front control arms make for an improved ride and pair with smooth
power steering to make handling more precise, while power brakes
that position discs up front bring the set of ultra-sharp 18"
Ridler wheels to prompt, easy stops.
Unusually low mileage, universally beloved curb appeal and an
impressive degree of originality make this 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS
a welcome find. Call today!
