Presented in Classic Rosso Corsa Over Tan
The Pininfarina-styled 308 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show
in 1975 as a supplement to the Bertone-shaped Dino 308 GT4 and a
replacement for the Dino 246. Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti who
had been responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated shapes
to date such as the Daytona, the Dino and the Berlinetta Boxer. An
updated Quattrovalvole model introduced in 1982, adopted a 32-valve
cylinder head, as well as an available small rear spoiler,
additional louvers between the headlamps to aid with the radiator
exhaust, and power mirrors, amongst other minor updates. With
sweeping curves and aggressive lines, the 308 has become one of the
most recognized and iconic Ferrari road cars.
This car, chassis #46179 was completed in late April of 1983 as a
U.S. specification model in Rosso Corsa over Tan cabin appointments
and delivered new through Foreign Cars Italia of Greensboro, North
Carolina. It's first owner, Mr. W.L. Nicholson, a resident of
Brunswick, Georgia, acquired the GTS on June 15, 1983. The Ferrari
spent life along the East Coast, remaining in outstanding original
and unmodified order, with just over 44,500 recorded miles.
Paint depth readings reveal a vast majority of original paintwork
throughout the vehicle (lower passenger door sprayed and blended).
It appears all upholstery is factory original to the 308, including
the targa top apron. A Blaupunkt CR-3001H radio is fitted.
Supplemental prancing horse mats offer additional protection for
the carpeting. The underside has been steam cleaned and the entire
car nicely detailed. As a testament to the integrity of the car the
PininFarina body number "94" is found stamped on both front and
rear bonnets as well as the frame. All power equipment, including
the clock, air condition, lighting, instruments and mirrors are in
proper working order. Additionally, the exterior's trim, lenses and
glass are also well-preserved original pieces. The front
compartment reveals an outstanding untouched spare wheel assembly,
while the rear luggage compartment stores a complete set of tools,
jack and spare bulb/fuse container in their respective cases. All
decals are still affixed to their designated engine bay and deck
lid locations and the Saint Gobain glass is original all
around.
Benefiting from a July 2019 inspection and engine service including
new fluids and filters, spark plugs, battery, engine cover struts,
bonnet foam gasket, air intake hose, radiator cap, timing belts and
tensioner bearings. The result is a great driving 308 QV with. A
compression test reveals a steady average of 171psi compression
across all cylinders. Correct Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico tires are
current as are the Bosch wiper blades. All smog equipment remains
in place, along with both catalytic converters leading into a
stainless steel Tubi muffler. In addition to clean Carfax and
AutoCheck reports, this fantastic 308 GTS is accompanied original
VIN-matched owners books and manuals in Ferrari folio, with
matching Blaupunkt CR-3001H books as well - further demonstrating
the car's originality and mindfulness to its lasting preservation.
