Vehicle Description
To this day, the Ford Model A is one of the most recognizable cars
on the planet and with over 4.8 million units produced in nine
different body styles in its 4 year production period. It was
sporty, attractive, well-built, and smooth-running compared to the
Model T, which it replaced in the 1928 model year. Thousands of
people were eager to see for themselves that "Henry's made a lady
out of Lizzie," and they stormed Ford showrooms when the Model A
debuted on December 2, 1927. In less than two weeks there were
400,000 orders, and Henry Ford could not keep up with the demand
for his latest "gift" to an increasingly mobile nation. Despite the
onset of the Depression, Model A production remained strong at
1,261,053 cars in 1930 but fell to 626,579 cars in 1931, the last
year that the Model A was produced.
The 1929 Model A Tudor offered here is the recipient of an older
restoration but shows well. The car received new radiator hoses,
leakless water pump, head gasket and head studs, spark plugs,
manifold gasket, valve springs, vavle set, valve guide set,
manifold, wire harness, alternator, oil pan gasket, tires and
tubes, radiator. There are over $1,900 worth of receipts reflecting
this. The car was stripped and painted in 2000 by Sessler's
Automotive in Manassas,VA and has receipts showiing $6,000 worth of
work. The paint is starting to show its age here and there but is
very presentable over all. The 4 cylinder engine fires to life with
ease and holds the road as it should. The brakes function very
well. This is a great driver and is ready for its next owner.
