For Sale at Auction: 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle in TACOMA, Washington

Vehicle Description

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS454 LS6

Famous, show quality 1970 Chevrolet SS454 LS6 Coupe finished in red over red interior.  Car retains its original, numbers matching 450 horsepower LS6 454 solid lifter cam motor with 11.1 compression ratio. M40 Turbo 400 automatic transmission, non-air conditioned, tilt wheel, power steering, power brakes, Cowl induction hood, Astro ventilation, chambered exhaust, fiber optics, 4:10 posi 12 bolt rear end, rear window defogger, original white letter Ployglas tires, bucket seats, and center console. – a very rare find!  All equipment is OEM in stock form with no modifications.  Vehicle has been “frame off” restored to the highest standards.  This beauty has LOW MILES at only 31,400 well documented miles since new! Additional parts included: a complete set of wheels with radial Goodyear F-60-14 tires, the original AM-FM radio, and the original steering wheel.

NOTE: A small scrap of build sheet was found wedged in a binding ring used to assemble the seat.  Although small, the sheet retained the carb code section that specifies a Holley carb.  The only 454 Big Block in 1970 that used a Holley carb with this code was the LS6. This is enough to show that, without a doubt this is a true LS6 car.

History:

In April 1970, Bob Fuller walked into McEleney Motors in Clinton, Iowa and ordered not just one but two LS6 Chevelles. The first is well-known in the collector car hobby as the “Fuller Car”: The unrestored triple black 1970 SS454 LS6 convertible ranks as the premier example, having served as a reference for LS6 judging and restoration since the 1980s and was sold at auction for $500,000.

Mr. Fuller took delivery of both cars in July 1970 and on the second day he owned them, he had 450/hp painted on the bumper pad of each iconic vehicle. The “Sister Red Coupe” to the “Fuller Car” was bracket raced by Mr. Fuller in E-Stock class at Cordova, IL for three years before he sold it in 1976 to late collector Jerome Shinkay. Since that time, the car has always been in a climate-controlled garage and driven to occasional car shows.  The car runs like an LS6 should – pulls like a Banshee anytime, anywhere.

In the 1980s, the near mint car was never less fully restored utilizing the original interior and all original sheet metal.  This is your opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history – the “Sister Red Coupe” will be sold with extensive documentation that not only verifies matching numbers and authenticity but contact information for all historical owners including the original owner Bob Fuller.
