Vehicle Description
Four-wheel drive surefootedness, combined with plenty of potent V8
propulsion - now that's a combo we can get behind! This 1976 Jeep
CJ7 is a well-turned out all terrain workhorse with all the power
you'll need for motoring through rough terrain, surmounting
obstacles or simply just pushing you back in your seat. It's got
great curb appeal, too, with some well-placed exterior add-ons
combining with sizable aftermarket tires to get a good grip on
whatever the path ahead may bring.
The CJ7 model holds the distinction of being the first iteration of
the Jeep specifically modified with the frequent driver in mind,
but those changes came with no compromise to its renowned, rugged
looking form and this '76 has been refreshed with a very sharp blue
exterior that's carrying the right components for vigorous
activity, including a pair of KC fog lights that are perched on the
extended front bumper and a full towing hookup. It's got a
noticeable lift that strikes a good balance of providing ample
ground clearance when veering off the asphalt without yielding too
harsh a ride in more commonly encountered driving situations and a
pair of sidepipes really amplify its action-oriented presence. With
their more substantial side cutouts, CJ7s accommodate actual
hard-shell doors and there are a pair included to combine with the
bikini top to create a more sheltered driving environment when
called for.
Inside the cabin, everything's ready for action. A pair of fresh
black vinyl buckets sit in place of the original seating and the
bench in back has been refreshed as well. Surrounding both of them
is a tub floor and sides that are protected by spray-in bed liner
that, despite having been applied quite a while back, is still
getting the job done. This Jeep is now navigated via an added GT
Grant steering wheel and the dash area beyond appears very solid,
with a collection of gauges that all function as intended and sit
behind clear lenses. The recess at the center of the dash stands by
waiting for you to add your chosen audio equipment to provide your
personal soundtrack while behind the wheel. A beefy roll cage
dressed in matching black fabric surrounds the entire cabin to
provide plenty of protection during more spirited motoring.
Lift the hood and you'll find a 350 cubic inch V8 holding court in
the engine compartment, offering substantially more displacement
than most engines this CJ7's counterparts feature. It's been armed
with a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb and intake manifold and receives an
optimum spark courtesy of the added HEI ignition. The engine is an
eager performer - it starts up quickly and pulls strong as it teams
with a smooth-shifting 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission. Up
front, a sizable aluminum radiator is accompanied by an electric
fan to keep temperatures down during more demanding driving
conditions. When you factor in this ride's substantial wheel
clearance with its easily-activated Quadratrack 4-wheel drive
feature and its set of 15" Eagle Alloy wheels wearing substantial
35X12.5R15LT Mickey Thompson mud tires, its capabilities on rough
terrain are outstanding, while smooth power steering and power
brakes that include discs up front provide good road manners around
town. Despite this vehicle's penchant for venturing off the beaten
path, its undercarriage appears plenty solid.
