Vehicle Description
Suffice to say you're not likely to pull up alongside anything
quite like this 1955 International Travelall Restomod. Some
seriously inspired creativity went into its configuration,
resulting in an appearance that's equal parts venerably classic and
head-turningly novel. Along with that visual impact comes a whole
host of upgrades to equip this vintage cruiser with plenty of
dependability and a driving experience you won't tire of.
International Harvester developed quite a reputation for building
rock solid farm equipment for decades before entering the
automotive manufacturing arena, in the process maintaining a clear
lead over household names like Ford and John Deere. When this
distinctive ride rolls into view, you can easily see the results of
that heritage. This is a substantial vehicle, to say the least, yet
it's endlessly stylish and when you take a closer look, you'll see
that it represents a sort of aesthetic bridge between the more
flamboyant models that came before it and the more restrained
versions to follow. An expansive cabin featuring no less than eight
tinted windows per side crowns a lengthy form that's draped in a
classy crme colored shade, with flowing fenders fore and aft.
Despite being applied a while back, the paint has held up well and
is nicely emphasized by this stout classic's de-badged appearance.
A pair of body contours run nearly the entire circumference of the
vehicle, passing by a pair of ambulance style doors in back, and a
wired Class III trailer hitch is on board just below.
Inside, the original front row of seating has been replaced with a
pair of adjustable gray cloth power buckets to attain just the
right position when you're behind the wheel. They sit astride a
custom center console that houses a pair of Pioneer speakers to
help spread the audio from a matching AM/FM/CD changer with both
Bluetooth and iPod connectivity throughout the cabin. Farther
forward, the dash area was thoroughly refurbished and color matched
to the exterior and now carries a Dolphin speedometer and a
multi-function display at its center whose parchment faces blend
nicely with the surrounding steel. The added air conditioning
system is in good form, well up to cooling or warming this spacious
cabin as needed via a quartet of in dash vents. A pair of captain's
chairs now occupy the position vacated by the rear bench seat and
not only are they plush and comfortable, but your backseat
passengers could fully extend their legs forward and still not run
out of room.
This one of a kind precursor to the SUV is propelled by a vital 350
cubic inch V8 that's fed by electronic fuel injection for
dependable all-weather performance, mated to a 700r4 4-speed
automatic transmission with an overdrive gear to keep RPMs down on
the highway. A collection of build and maintenance receipts
documents the care and investment that's gone into bringing the car
to its current stellar state, which includes the installation of a
thorough array of drivetrain and suspension components, and its
original underpinnings were swapped out for a more modern chassis
out of a Chevy Suburban, so the ride quality is surprisingly
smooth. Power steering makes for easy maneuverability, while power
brakes that include discs up front bring the set of 15" black steel
wheels wearing white wall tires to dependable and easy stops.
With its singular appearance teaming with a configuration centered
on a comfortable driving experience, this 1955 International
Travelall Restomod is a standout that must be seen in person to be
fully appreciated. Call today!
