1947 Packard Custom Super Clipper

In the Post-War, Packard continued to build an exemplary automobile, in the Clipper. Introduced in 1941 the Clipper was new in its styling and quite a change in its construction. Interrupted by WWII, Packard turned to manufacturing engines for the war effort. After the war it was a race to build automobiles. Packard decided to concentrate on offering one style, the stand alone Clipper.
The top of the line "Custom Super Clipper" was introduced in mid 1946 thru 1947. Exclusive to the Super were an Amboyna burle applique for the window molding and central dash panel and pearwood applique for the upper door panels. The upholstery was of wool broadcloth, with wrapped coil springs for seat cushions and back rests along with genuine down padding. Plush Mosstred carpeting along with a woolen headliner, with it's seams running front to back "to provide a more spacious feel to the interior".
This particular example was originally purchased in California. It was meticulously well maintained through the ensuing years and owners. In the 80's it was bought by a member of CCCA and he brought the body and the engine of the car back to form, keeping the interior mostly original.
It has been the recipient of 3 Hershey AACA-HPOF awards.
This motorcar is for the Packard enthusiast who would appreciate the rarity of the largely original interior and all of it's award wining features.
