Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible
Every time when I look in the mirror All these lines on my face
getting clearer the past is gone It went by, like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way Everybody's got the dues in life to
pay...Aerosmith
Imagine yourself behind the wheel of one of the best year Camaro's,
bathed in red (is there any other color you need?) and a black
droptop, all dressed up and ready to have its key turned, and upon
doing so it will definitely turn your screws! A mere 36,070 miles,
Main Street here I come, commence the neck snapping.
Exterior
Once the shell was thoroughly prepped, each of its panels was
carefully aligned to uniform consistency. When that well-tailored
profile was close to perfect, it was bathed in a nifty color change
to Deep Red with Super Sport stripes and sealed in mirror-like
clear. And the result is one clean, head-turning cruiser that
sports distinctly American livery! Zoom in on the details and this
custom continues to impress. At the front of its body, a Satin
Black grille hangs a familiar "SS" emblem above clean parking
lamps, a small black spoiler chromed bumper. Behind that grille, a
requisite Camaro header fronts a tagged Cowl Induction Hood, which
flows to a tinted greenhouse that's dressed in polished mirrors,
polished wipers and straight stainless trim. All this topped by a
pristine black convertible top. At the sides of that glass, fresh
wheel frames and new rocker spears, run rearward to optional
quarter louvers, traditional door handles and ornate fender
emblems. And at the back of the car, an "SS" branded valance, a
carbon fiber spoiler and a second chromed bumper. Sing with me,
sing for the years, sing for the laughter, sing for the
tears...
Interior
Sporting new bucket padding and black vinyl, and an original rear
bench, this interior is fab! Up front there is a new dash pad, very
clean instruments, some wood applique on the steering wheel, in
nice condition, and an upgraded tilt mechanism now to play with.
Also, the original AM/FM radio which works, in within the resorted
dash. A wood applique center console races from rear to dash, and
houses a Hurst shifter, with an aftermarket 3-gauge cluster hanging
directly above the console. A sea of calm black carpet douses the
floors and is in nice condition. Well, I know, nobody knows, where
it comes and where it goes...
Drivetrain
A hoist of the hood, and we note a 350ci V8 in good shiny
condition. This is topped by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, and
chromed air cleaner, which works well with the chromed valve
covers, and red painted block. Consigner states the engine is
period correct and has an unknown cam shaft upgrade. A 4-speed
manual transmission is on back, and with a mere 1000 miles on them,
a clutch replacement, transmission bearings, a ring and pinion
differential, new bearings and axles which connect to a 3.73:1
posi-track 12 bolt rear. I know it's everybody's sin, you got to
lose to know how to win.
Undercarriage
A very small amount of surface rust is seen on the usual suspects,
however unremarkable. Solid frame and floorpans, and a Flowmaster
exhaust can be seen underneath. You know it's true, oh, All these
things come back to you.
A very snazzy, snappy 69 Convertible SS Camaro, well done, and
certainly ready to go and show. Dream on, dream on, dream
on...Dream until your dream comes true, right here at Classic Auto
Mall. And thanks to the toxic twins for the end of paragraph
commentary!
