Vehicle Description
1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass S
General Motors obviously did a lot right in 1969. Almost everything
the company produced that year has its own fan club and remains a
staple at classic car shows. If the past few months are any
indicator, Oldsmobile's Cutlass is a contender in the fight for
Favorite GM A-body.
For consignment a project car. Any parts that are included in this
consignment are photographed for you to peruse. Condition is
definitely AS/IS, and there is plenty of work left to do on this
project.
Exterior
With body filler applied, sanded and primed we note plenty of
repairs to the steel panels. Chrome bumpers, badging, and trim work
are missing in action, and currently not on this car. What parts
that are accounted for reside in the trunk and some research on the
aftermarket or salvage market will definitely be in order to get
this car in order. The 4th Cragar wheel is included but the tire
has holes in it, so we needed to get this car to move so we
attached generic wheel.
Interior
In need to a total restoration, although back bench looks as though
it could have a thorough detailing and you would get away with it
as original and in good shape. Carpets are missing, and the front
bench has a seat cover installed. Dash is a total redux again with
some missing parts.
Drivetrain
According to our engine decoder, a 350ci V8 with a single 2-barrel
carburetor atop, and a 2-speed Jetaway automatic transmission is on
back. A 10-bolt rear is connected to the transmission. All this is
in original unrestored condition, and has some parts missing.
Undercarriage
Mostly rust free, although some previous repairs have been made to
the rocker panels directly in front of the rear wheel wells. Floor
pans, and frame appear to be solid and have no surface rusting.
Driveability
Our attempted test drive was a failure, as we could not get a spark
for the engine to fire. It will not start on either, so we can
state that this car does not currently run.
A barn find, a project car, in need of TLC, call it what you want,
this car will need a patient, ambitious restorer who has a knack
for obtaining parts, can do some wrenching, as well as all aspects
of the restoration process. It may be worth it though, as if
carefully done, and completed, these cars have brought good money
with previous sales.
