Vehicle Description
1947 MG TC for sale. Motorcar Classics is proud to present this
delightful 1947 MGTC in burgundy with black interior. This is
another very special British roadster from the estate of Arthur
Lang, the other car in the collection being the 1961 Morgan Plus 4
in our current inventory. This car was given the name Winston at
some point in its history as evidenced by the plaque affixed to the
cowl. The MG was acquired by Arthur in 1989. The car comes with a
thick history file including the paperwork from when the car
arrived in the US in the early 70s, and lots of receipts and
records of events Arthur participated in with the car. TC/3524 is a
September 1947 Home Market TC that was first registered in England,
and then in Italy. It is said to have been raced in Europe and we
are told that the BARC and Luxemburg badges are original. In notes
based on oral history passed from prior owners it is said that
Winston participated in races, rallies and hill climbs. It is
fitted with Brooklands Aero Screens in addition to the fold-down
windshield. There are records of rebuilds done to both mechanical
and cosmetic components. When Arthur acquired the car it was still
in fresh racing tune and trim. Arthur has the car detuned to make
it more suitable for year-round road use. It was recently serviced
by a respected expert and while Winston retains the patina of more
than 70 years of being thoroughly enjoyed, the TC is in top
operating order. Arthur was not afraid to use his cars in all kinds
of weather and for all kinds of motor sports. Winston was his
favorite for rallying. In a short essay about the Legend of
Winston, Ruth writes, No matter how hard Arthur drove his cars, he
always pampered them once they were back in our garage. Everyday,
washing and drying them after taking them out for a run. Constantly
maintaining all the mechanical parts on an everyday basis. History
is written all over this car and it needs only a new keeper to
begin Winstons next chapter.
