Vehicle Description
Looking sharp after a restoration in the recent past, this 1964
Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu has the distinction of not only
representing the upper tier version of the model in its first
generation, but also holds the distinction of being a member of its
very first class to roll off the assembly line. Chevelles would, of
course, go on to become coveted muscle cars and this one captures
that magic nicely, with its classic color scheme and rock solid,
enhanced powerplant. If you put a high premium on street-readiness,
this is a car you're going to want to take a close look at.
The automobile marketplace was a busy scene when this '64 rolled
out. The Big Three automakers were frantically jockeying for
position as the American buying public confirmed their interest in
less expansive cars and the Chevelle ably answered that call.
Performance enthusiasts were taken by the model's broad track and
spacious engine compartment, which could accommodate a substantial
engine with room to spare. The exterior on this Malibu remains in
stock configuration and is draped in a shade that equips it with a
thoroughly authentic appearance, being just a stone's throw from
the Satin Silver offering on the color chart the year it debuted.
The paint is in good shape and is ornamented by a collection of
chrome that's in very solid condition, with bumpers in front and
back that are positioned nice and level and show no dings from
making contact with immovable objects. A thorough array of badging
completes this vintage Chevy's well-configured appearance.
Climb inside and you'll be impressed with your surroundings. This
interior is in great shape, with a pair of plushly padded buckets
up front and a bench seat in back that wear fresh, well-fitted
vinyl and an expanse of clean matching carpet lining the floor. The
door panels to each side are really sharp, carrying new handles and
arm rests while featuring a stretch of trim across their tops that
merges with a matching accent on the dash. Peer through the factory
steering wheel and you'll see an instrument panel that's in top
form, with a chrome panel surrounding clear and functional factory
gauges that are joined by aftermarket temperature and battery level
displays below. A vacant space for the radio affords the
opportunity to equip this classic with a sound system of your
choosing to create just the right audio experience. In back, the
trunk area is spacious and sports the same showroom-fresh
appearance as the interior, and the upholstered inner wheelhouses
are a great finishing touch.
Beneath the hood, the emphasis is on abundant, dependable power,
with some eye candy added to the mix. The featured 350 cubic inch
crate V8 wears a pair of aluminum aftermarket alum heads at its
sides and a bowtie intake and 4-barrel Carter carb on top and is
nicely dressed in a pair of chrome valve covers and chrome air
cleaner bearing matching flame etchings. The powerplant pulls with
plenty of enthusiasm and sounds great as it exhales into its pair
of aftermarket headers, teaming with a 4-speed manual transmission
for a fitting "hands on" driving experience. Coil springs in both
front and back provide a nice, quiet ride while power disc brakes
at all four corners bring this first generation Chevelle to fade
resistant stops as it cruises on its set of 15" American Racing
Torq Thrust wheels.
The chance to pull a first generation Malibu into your garage
doesn't come along often and the strong running condition and
overall sharp appearance of this 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu
makes that opportunity all the more rare. Call today!
