1964 Volkswagen 21-Window Deluxe Samba Bus
Showroom MINT Condition
1st year of the 21 Window Samba!
In the world of the Classic VW Bus, its all about the windows. Each Bus was specifically named based on the windows. The basic 11 window bus was called the Kombi or Microbus. The 13 window bus was named the Deluxe Bus from '64-'67. Prior to '64, it was a 15 window bus.
In 1964, the first 21 window Samba was produced until 1967. Prior to '64, the 23 window Samba had 2 small curved corner windows in the back of the bus which were deleted in '64 and replaced with a large canvas sunroof on the roof of the Deluxe Bus. Today, the 21 window Samba is now the most highly sought after and most collectible VW Bus in existence.
This VW 21-Window Deluxe Samba Bus has undergone a complete rotisserie restoration back to its original condition. It stands today in the best shape of its life.
The engine is an upgraded 1835cc dual carburetor flat 4 cylinder, 4 speed transmission and a 12 volt electrical system. This VW starts, runs and drives beautifully.
This factory original German built bus has new German Haartz cloth interior, Safari style rear window and deluxe trim. It still retains its original data tag. The canvas sunroof was a deluxe feature only available on the Samba.
This bus comes complete with the rear tent and side curtains as shown. The side step is included as well. We are not sure if the side step was a factory feature or an aftermarket addition. Either way, it is easily removable, looks great and makes getting in & out a breeze. Whats not to love?
