For Sale: 1966 Chevrolet Nova in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Chevrolet obviously did a lot right in 1966. Almost everything the company produced that year has achieved a wide following that seems to transcend several generations. Among that line-up, the '66 Nova claims one of the largest enthusiast followings. That's why classics like this impressive Chevy II Super Sport never stick around our showroom for very long. The beneficiary of a detailed ground up restoration, this crazy cool compact wraps an original 283/2-speed drivetrain in correct Marina Blue 2-stage that's guaranteed to stand out in the sea of Regal Red Chevys. So, if you love a nice, factory-spec car, but favor aesthetics that command attention, enjoy the best of both worlds by grabbing this national award-winning Nova!

CLASSIC GOOD LOOKS

Residing with the same loving owner for almost 30 years, this authentic V8 Nova Super Sport is the beneficiary of a meticulous, 1.5-year restoration that began with all the car's panels being stripped to bare metal. Those panels were carefully layered in correct Marina Blue base and sealed in glossy clear. And today, this retro chic coupe rolls as one spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's poised, polished and innately appealing! At the front of the car, a straight grille hangs a classy "CHEVY II SS" badge between a mirrored bumper, amber parking lamps and stainless-trimmed headlights. Above that grille, a finned hood anchors a simple Chevrolet crest in front of clean glass, polished wipers and polished stainless frames. At the sides of that hood, a modernist profile centers small fender emblems, ornate quarter scripts and traditional door handles between straight wheel trim, a polished bowtie mirror and correct Super Sport rocker guards. And at the back of the car, correct Super Sport trunk trim hangs red-detailed badging between vertical tail lamps, a power antenna and a second mirrored bumper.

TURBO-FIRE POWER

Toss the hood and you'll find 283 cubic inches of hot Chevrolet small block! Oxygen and fuel enter the legendary mill's combustion chambers through a painted and decaled air cleaner, stainless fluid lines and a spry Rochester carburetor. Below that carb, a sea of brilliant Chevy Orange paint covers the block from its cast intake all the way to its stamped oil pan. At the back of that intake, a reliable points distributor shoots spark through eight Packard TV R Suppression cables. Below those cables, cast iron heads hang hardened valve seats over a .030 overbore and a hydraulic, flat tappet cam. At the front of those heads, a Delco-topped battery complements a beefy Harrison radiator. And naturally, those components are seated in a crisp, Flat Black frame.

NO BOLT LEFT UNTURNED

Under this impressive X-Body you'll find a fully sorted chassis and solid floorpans that, like the car's glossy exterior panels and brilliant engine, have been restored to very high standards. At the center of those floors, a smooth Powerglide 2-speed streams torque to a familiar 10-bolt axle that spins big, 3.73 gears. Holding that stellar drivetrain in place is a fully rebuilt suspension that mixes old school manual steering with proven drum brakes. Exhaust flows from cast iron manifolds to aluminized pipes and brash turbo mufflers. And power meets the pavement through 14-inch steelies, which twist 185/75 Sentry Deluxe Classic All Season radials around correct Super Sport hub caps.

UNIFORM APPEAL

Open this second generation Nova's solid doors and you'll find a correct Blue interior. That restored cockpit is centered on fresh vinyl seats. At the front of those thrones, a crack-free dash hangs rebuilt telemetry next to a correct Delco AM radio. At the base of that dash, color-keyed carpet floats a flashy console around a traditional chrome shifter. At the sides of that carpet, stainless-trimmed door panels add a little visual pop. And the driver turns a body-matched steering wheel.

Combining timeless aesthetics with a great drivetrain and a rock-solid restoration, this national award-winning Nova is the ideal car for cruising AND showing. And if you're in the market for some choice muscle with an unbeatable combination of style and performance, it's a perfect candidate for your next classic!
