Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo
track car. This 951 is titled and tagged (and is daytime street
legal), but it certainly leans more on the side of dedicated track
car than streetable daily driver. It has been maintained, stored
and supported by a highly-regarded Porsche shop north of Atlanta
for its last two owners, the current of which purchased it in
2012.
It has been a DE / open track day car and driven mostly at Atlanta
Motorsports Park. There is a lot to take in with this one so we'll
start with the big upgrades: Moton remote reservoir coilovers,
Autopower roll bar, Corbeau seats on sliders, recent 6-point
driver's harness, 5-point passenger, MAF conversion, custom slip
fit headers, 4-inch Lyndsey racing / Magnaflow exhaust, ported /
polished cylinder head, manual steering conversion, big brake
upgrade, stage two clutch, strut brace, fire suppression, 17-inch
twists with R888s, and Race Keeper data logger (overlays telemetry
on front and rear video).
Dyno-tuned and producing 300 WHP on a conservative 12 psi of boost.
Recent top end rebuild, rod bearings, engine reseal, transaxle
rebuild, timing belt, clutch, cooling system, fuel lines and much
more. Set up and corner balanced. The front nose and headlight
assembly have been replaced with a fiberglass single unit but the
take off parts are included. Turn signals, brake lights, wiper,
heater blower and power windows have been retained. A rear
fiberglass bumper is fitted and a set of 18-inch Carrera II wheels
are also included.
This 951 has always been professionally prepped for track days and
inspected and cleaned afterwards. The current owner is a life-long
racer, a founding member of AMP and an engineer in the automotive
restraint field - now in his 80s, he has decided to take a
sabbatical from track days.
Service and upgrade records fill two 3-ring binders and date to
1999 - receipts total over $130,000. This is a well-sorted car that
has not been abused and has truly been maintained with an open
checkbook - it's ready to hit the track. You couldn't come close to
building another 951 into a car this fast and capable for the
asking price.
