Over its 22 years of production, the Mercury Monterey served as the flagship, mid-range, and entry-level offering of the full-size Mercury product range. This is the only Mercury name to be in continuous production throughout the 1960s. In 1961 the Monterey styling was revamped, with headlights that are more separated and a stylish concave grille that resembled 1960 cars as well as the very popular Thunderbird-style roofline.
This 1962 Mercury Monterey sport coupe is unrestored and finished in a factory color of Teaberry. It’s powered by a 352ci V8 engine backed by a Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission and equipped with power steering and power brakes. The chrome and trim are in good condition. The interior is a highlight of the exceptional condition of this car. There are no rips or tears on the retro-style seats that sport cloth and leather with silver piping that was indicative of the space-age styling of the times. The headliner has been replaced and is in perfect condition. The engine bay has been fully detailed and is incredibly clean. This is a very solid car that has been garage-stored and pampered its entire life. It has 92,969 original miles and had one repaint around 2004 in a factory Mercury Teaberry, a color that was only available in 1961-63.
