The Firebird origin started back in the age of muscle cars of the
60s and the 3rd generation of Firebird/Trans Ams started in 1981.
This was the first generation that featured fuel injected motors
and also came with redesigns like the hatchback top. The Trans Am
version was the performance model for Firebird which typically
incorporated better suspension/handling, more horsepower and some
exterior upgrades. This 1985 Trans Am is a nice all original car
painted in a metallic Blue and Silver combination. Up front the car
has the pop up headlights with the large taillight panels in back
which was a very popular look for the time. The wheels are the
special ordered Aero Tech 16 inch aluminum 20 slot wheels wrapped
with Ventus HRII tires.
Another change for this year was the offering of a fuel injected
305 motor which this one was ordered with. It starts up and runs
well. The surrounding engine compartment matches the body color and
has the Red cross brace in between the shock towers. The motor is
paired with an automatic transmission that runs through the gears
with no problems.
The interior is complete in the original two tone Gray cloth. It
has dual buckets up front and foldable buckets in back. Between the
front seats runs the original center console that houses the power
window controls, emergency brake and t-handle shifter. The stereo
is an AM/FM/Cassette and the dash has the stock AC/Heat, gauges,
and switches. Pop the rear hatch and you will find plenty of
storage space and a retractable cover to block it from view or let
the sun in.
If you are looking for an inexpensive sports car to cruise around
in or tinker with here it is.
