Vehicle Description
This 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has everything you want,
including V8 power, four-on-the-floor, and air conditioning. But as
you look beyond the classic style, you'll also see that this one
has been given the right investments along the way. That makes for
a powerful coupe offered for a fantastic price.
The second-generation Trans Am was a seriously intimidating
package. The wide ground effects in front of the wheel wells,
integrated rear spoiler, fender vents, and shaker hood all gives
this a real presence on the streets. And these later cars had a
deep-dipping Endura front end that gave these Firebird T/As a true
aggressive beak. While this is a great classic look, you can also
see some more modern flair on this example with the metallic red
paint. But even with this upgrade, they didn't forget to return the
hallmark features, like the full striping package and hood bird
that leads the way on a proper T/A. In fact, while it's extra bold,
it still looks correct, right down to the iconic snowflake alloy
wheels.
The black interior looks great against the exterior red. The
carpeting, door panels, and headliner have a nice dark
presentation. And the high-back bucket seats and center console add
plenty of comfort. The same goes for the cold-blowing factory air
conditioning and the upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo that's hidden away in
the glovebox (that means modern music but a vintage atmosphere.)
This T/A is a true driver's machine, and that's why you have the
floor shifter and grippy sports steering wheel specific to the
Trans Ams. And beyond that is a full set of white-faced gauges set
the cool machine-turned panel.
Under the hood is proper Pontiac power with the 400 cubic-inch V8.
It has an exceptionally honest presentation, right down to the
correct turquoise block and the "Keep Your GM car all GM" decal on
the air topper. But looks can be a bit deceiving. That's because
this V8 has been upgraded with performance pieces like an Edelbrock
four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake. The tidy
look of the engine bay tells you it has been treated with care, and
the way this one fires up reaffirms it. The original four-speed
manual transmission gives you full control of the power and the
growl of the newer dual exhaust. Plus, we have receipts from the
last decade that document nice investments like a new clutch,
subframe connectors, and rear sway bar. Power steering and power
brakes w/discs up front complete this all-around nice driving
package.
The sale comes complete with build receipts, service manuals, and
maintenance records. It's a great T/A offered for a great price.
