A comprehensive rotisserie restoration completed on this 1959
Volkswagen 23-Window Executive Microbus, rendering it in
sensational condition backed by modest drivability upgrades.
Officially known as a Type 2 Transporter and most commonly and
lovingly known as the Bus, Volkswagens all-purpose utility van
capitalized on the growing worldwide popularity of the Beetle.
Originally equipped with a 25 horsepower engine, it has since been
upgraded to a 2110cc / 125hp that will easily keep up with
modern-day traffic. An external oil cooler was added to keep the
oil cool in hotter climates and prolongs engine life and
reliability. Disc brakes were added as well to increase stopping
power. The original radio is still in the dash and a modern one is
hidden. The speedometer reads 70,215 miles and that is believed to
be original to the chassis.
This Bus is the rare and highly desirable 7 passenger,
German-built,Executive version with the short bench seat in the
middle to allow passengers to walk from the front to the back with
ease. Rear window guards and chrome trim vents also came on this
model.
This VWhas spent most of it's restored life on the beaches of
Hawaii, and just recently came back home to Colorado. Overall it is
a stunning piece of history with all the original glass, in the
original paint combination, and runs and drives excellent.
