Vehicle Description
1947 Chevrolet 3100 Panel Truck
For consignment, a Panel Truck that has mostly its original look,
but some surprises as we look closer. An engine upgrade, exterior
redux, and interior sort of "in progress" we have a nice example
that can be driven right off the lot here at Classic Auto Mall
Exterior
With a total exterior restoration, it is now bathed in beautiful
Red 2 stage paint, which presents in very nice condition. Some
areas where underlying repairs can be seen if you look really
closely at the fenders in particular, but overall the paint
presents nicely. This also holds true for the chrome which is in
very good condition. We can note that this Panel Truck has been
shaved of its door handles, badging, and rear tail lighting has
been modified from original. Body matching bumpers and some snazzy
running boards covered in expeditor matching paint adorn this
truck. Chromed steel wheels with red moon caps are noted on all 4
wheels.
Interior
A push of a FOB button and the doors crack open electronically, and
this is a good thing because the handles have been shaved! Door
panels are the raw steel without any panels, although wood blocks
have been fashioned to hold power window toggles. Red velour cloth
seats which look vaguely familiar as my guess would be from a Monte
Carlo show in bucket form in the front, and a rear bench has been
mounted to the floor. The dash has been resprayed with exterior
matching red, and some original horizontal ribbed chrome adorns the
center and glove box panels of the dash front. In front of the
driver are 2 circular gauges, one a cluster for oil, battery, temp,
and fuel, and the other a speedometer. This have very nice chromed
bezels, and black fields with a perking of white lettering and
pointers. A few small lights can trip your trigger when this truck
is started. Air conditioning hangs below the dash. A note about the
interior paneling as it is nonexistent save for the original
"particleboard" inserted within the frame structure. The headliner
is also nonexistent and shows the bare steel (although painted red)
above the passengers. A rear camera screen hovers above the
windshield and works perfectly.
Drivetrain
Popping the large hood, we see a restored engine bay, with new
master cylinder, radiator, and wiring. A healthy Vortec V8 with a
modified air intake is sitting in the center, and this is backed by
a 700 R4 automatic transmission.
Undercarriage
With the restoration some modifications have been performed, like
rack and pinion steering, power front disc brakes, and dual
exhaust. All is clean under here with little to no rust (surface or
otherwise) sturdy body hangers, and a solid frame.
A nice Panel Truck with just enough modifications to retain the
original look, but with a few eye catchers. This truck has a nice
line and is a beautifully painted example from way back in 1947.
Runs great, shifts smoothly, starts quickly. You may want to finish
off the interior panels, but then again you may not. A great
business tool for some different looking advertising, imagine your
company name of this side of this baby!
